When I open Gmail, on the password box I have many dots..Click sign on the right, the dots changed to real password. How do I get rid of that dots?
In addition, usually I have on the left side under Inbox, the items sent email, spam, and many others. Now I do not have it anymore. How do I get it back? Thanks

Glad I found you today, very informative. Two suggestions for future videos that may prove beneficial for the many. With the Add Ons, could you pick the top ones (like you say boomerang is gone) that would benefit us the most for email organization, and other useful tools. Was looking at Simpletivity as a possiblity. Also, created several new folders today and heck if I can find them anywhere. Gone to that nowhere land in the sky? Hopefully there can be enough 'consumer complaints" compiled and sent to Gmail, that they do some fine tuning on their new gmail.
My gmail and Google account has been flagged as inappropriate.
I am conservative, Republican, a Trump supporter, a Christian. Often in my comments I recommend that people read the Book of Proverbs.
I guess that makes me inappropriate.
How can I get unflagged?
As an older person, change is difficult at times but this one stumped me. Just like I don't like the grocery store to change things around, Gmail is the same. Working with for a non -profit organization, I rely on my Gmail to help me make my task easier. We get multiple emails from a user and will need to check back on an older email to refresh the circumstance. On the old version, you could "hover" over the name or address and a window would open up with options, such as reply or "emails" and if you clicked on emails, all the emails from that sender would appear... Can't find it... HELP I'm lost and can't find it. Love your videos, Very well done and easy to follow.
I was able to reply before but yesterday after the NEW Gmail I was trying to reply on Gmail and then it was so complicated I kept getting errors instead. On my tablet I was able to reply easily. And I hate the new Gmail. And no way would I put a time limit on emails either. I hate the self destruct idea or feature too.
Help. I used to filter my Inbox mails using Search and then selected and copied the text of a series of conversations as it is presented in the Inbox view, so I could paste into to another program (such as Word, Excel,...). I don't seem able to do that any more...

Hello Sir I love your video's I have a question I have an Gmail account and just one day I stopped receiving my emails, I go to my settings and I tried to sync everything and it shows were all my emails are Saints and I still get nothing now my old Gmail like there's a few emails in there and the new Gmail update that they did I don't have anything so I'm unsure what to do or how to fix it. How do I get the snooze feature to appear on my android phone Gmail? I am only having the problem on the Gmail account that does not use @gmail.com. the @Financemgr.com, which is a Gmail account, does not have the snooze feature

When writing an Email I am in overwrite / insert mode which is incredibly annoying
Like all people who have the same problem ..I do not know how this happened - it is only when writing an Email in Gmail - not in Word or Excel
All the solutions on the web talk about using the insert button ...highlight / click on text and hit Insert to switch it on or off
This does not work for me ....and I suspect the Insert button is faulty as it does not change the text writing in either Word or Excel
Is there any other solution that does not involve the use of the Insert button ???
Steve, I just discovered you and you're great. I would like to knoq how to automatically file new messages into a particular folder. for instnance i want all messages from sender A to get moved into folder B automatically. How do I do that?
Google's biggest problem, is putting settings in the wrong places, under the wrong categories, they are extremely unorganised I find. Having the snooze setting under "Conversation view" setting is a bad idea, no-one would think to click that unless they were losing patience and just spamming controls left/right/centre. This is worse than the time they hid YouTube's PM/inbox system in the "creators studio", a place that's unrelated to PM's.
They keep putting settings and features in the wrong places, they are quite poor when it comes to site design, I have no idea why =( You would've thought they'd have enough experience to not make so many silly mistakes like these.
Hello Sir, I have a two part questions regarding creating new emails on both desktop and mobile app on Gmail. On the desktop, can I move the new email that I'm doing from the right hand corner, to the opposite side (or where ever I want)? And on the mobile, I notice when I reply an email there's no space between the new email that I'm writing and the email that the other person sent. Is like I have to hit enter a couple of times so there can be space. Your the best!
I am really confused on adding a second email into the one I already have to separate a particular group of emails. Would they come into a folder or be starred? I don't want to purchase google mail professional services. How do I get the second address without having another account?
J'apprécie vraiment tes conseils et tes qualités de vulgarisateur scientifique qui ne se prend pas trop au sérieux. i believe Gmail is much more performant than Apple mail. Although i've been an Apple user (babyboomer) for over 25 years and i still use a Macbook pro. I switched from Safari to Google Chrome. This allows me to get the Google suite including GMail, Google Keep and all kinds of free apps which is not the case with Apple apps . By the way i can also use all the synchronized Google Suite on my Pixel 2 XL which is the best smart phone i had so far (Just compare Siri to Google Assistant...). Seems that i am slowly moving away from the Apple echosystem...

Steve, I signed into my gmail account from another persons computer. Now when 'sign into gmail' is accessed from that computer it automatically goes to my account, not requiring a sign in by the person accessing gmail, thus any person using the computer to sign into gmail accesses my account straight off. How do I turn off the apparent automatic sign into my account. Thanks much.
Hi Steve. Am I correct in thinking that you cannot have two email addresses for a single Google account? I want an appropriate email address for my role as village hall treasurer, but don't want to affect all my personal stuff. Should I just bite the bullet and create a new village hall Google account?
Here is one for you Steve, I have over 50,000 emails that are over a year old, I was told they would be deleted, however that was not done so how do I delete them permanently so that only this year is in there, and doing it on a one at a time just does not cut it.
Hello, Steve, May I be greedy and ask a second question? I've just stopped belly-laughing at an expert answer in the Google support forum. It appears the solution to resending an e-mail is to copy and paste. Do you get irked by the inconvenience of resending an e-mail in gmail?

Nick Patel yes. Reminders show up in the calendar for both desktop and mobile apps. You can set them as an all day or set to a time. The are persistent past whatever date you set until they are marked done or deleted.
Steve thank you!!!! When you can, could you walk me through how to create a event from your gmail. This use to be a function under more. I see tasks but I dont see you are able to create it as a calander event. This use to be great when you could have the email in the description and add agenda. Instead of having to copy the whole email and then finding the date and time. Thanks!
A feature missing in new Gmail: dates and times in received email (in the body of the email) do not offer me any links for automatically creating calendar entries as was previously available. I miss that capability. Will new Gmail bring this back?
I have a question about the new Gmail and how it links to Google Photos»: while I'm writing an email, I want to insert a photo (inline) of person XYZ, but when (from inside GMail) I click on the insert image icon, I am sent to the general view of all my photos and cannot do a search like when I'm in Google Photos. What am I missing here»?
Gmail Contacts , show when you compose an email, When you start typing a name, the persons name and email show. You can then just click on it. The names show, First or Last, as you type the names narrow down the choices , then click the correct one , you can also add more contacts the same way if the email is to more than one person
Steve, this is the message that keeps coming up in my emails and messing me up: Google: "Are you the one who tried signing in?
Google will continue to block sign-in attempts from the app you're using because it has known security problems or is out of date. You can continue to use this app by allowing access to less secure apps, but this may leave your account vulnerable."
Steve- how do I even know what app is causing this?
Steve that was no help. I even changed my password, still Mac Mail does not recognize so I still can't get my email from that (those) gmail accounts. All the forums say is that there is some glitch between Apple and Google and only offer temporary workarounds. Very frustrating and time consuming. I want a fix and nobody seems to know anything.
I'm actually happy Google moved the Contacts launcher to the app drawer. Not only was it buried under the biggest logo on the screen but when you used it, you got the Contacts all right but totally replacing your Inbox. Much more intuitive now, in my opinion. Now you get the Contacts in a separate tab. Good episode...
A big Thanks Steve!!! As always you light up the tech path for so many of us!! Just a note, when I switched over to the new Gmail, My snooze feature was already activated. And thanks for shedding light on the self destruct (Confidential mode). I do have a gripe with Gmail, and it is when you delete something from Archive, or anywhere else in gmail, if you have it stored in a folder, it gets deleted. I think that you should be able to segregate what you want deleted or not. For example if you send yourself an email for a particular folder, and go to the "sent" box and delete it, it also gets deleted in the folder you specifically placed it. anyway many thanks again!!!
I actually prefer th Contacts being accessed from the apps icon. I don't access my Contacts that often and I never found the old location very intuitive. It always took me a while to find it.
I wonder if Google are planning a 'Contacts' side-bar tool? I reckon that would be really useful.

There's something I don't get. What's the benefit of archiving emails ? As everyone I have thousands of emails and never archive any of them. So far I use 43 % of my gmail storage capacity but what's the point of Archive ? I simply don't get it. Does it free some space ?
Hi, Steve. Great video. Always fascinated by all things Google suite. I do have a couple of questions pertaining to Gmail. The first is Google Inbox - a terrible interface but introduced us to the ground breaking Snooze facility. My question is why hasn't Google recalled it now that Gmail has the Snooze facility? My second question is how do I set a Priority when Composing an e-mail; I've been e-mailing solicitors a lot and wanting to flag then as High Priority like on other e-mail clients but I fail to see the option. That's correct, and a useful feature...but it's only the days - not any of your actual calendar appointments. I can't see how they could fit a full month view into the sidebar anyway, there's not a lot of space there.
I have had no problem with the new Gmail. I use both Gmail and Google Inbox. I have disagreements with Google Inbox, but you have to learn how to work around it. Gmail is not the best email client. But it is the best for me. People, in general, do not like change, but what do you want for free? At least Gmail is giving you a choice? A lot of email clients do not!
Great information, much appreciated! Another question about the Calendar widget - it does not show "Other" calendars that I have set-up. For example, I have a subscribed calendar for my grandson's baseball schedule, Canadian Holidays and an NHL team schedule.....all of which do not show in the sidebar view - have I missed a setting?
Hi Steve thanks for your great stuff! I do have a question: How do I remedy the "incorrect password" message I constantly get? And when I put in the password it rejects it. I keep getting emails that "Someone may be trying to access your account(s)" but it is always just me! I have desktop, laptop and Android, and three gmails. Just one recovery email address- and THAT is one of the ones that always gets questioned. PS I use MacMail except on my Android phone.
I’m glad you brought up the issue of no column sorting. Yes, Gmail allows you to search based on certain criteria but it only retrieves just those email entries. If you want to “sort” by sender to see ALL entries you can’t as of right now. If you have hundreds of emails, by many senders, a column sort would be nice because you may have entries by a sender who you don’t remember and a search is only good if you can remember the sender’s name. Cleaning up the hundreds of entries would be nice if the senders would be in alpha order so you could click on entries you want to act on without many dozens of searches needed today.
As always, Steve, great info, thanks. As to this issue of Archive vs All Mail, I think it has to do with the fact that in Gmail, there are no “folders” per se, rather Gmail applies “Labels”. Every email in the system resides in one big space called All Mail. Google’s method of organization of emails is to add a Label to an email that resides in All Mail. Even messages in Inbox are simply messages within All Mail that have the Inbox Label applied. When you Archive a message, Gmail simply removes the Inbox Label from that message, but it still resides in All Mail. Same with all other Labels. That’s why what we consider to be the Archive is called All Mail in Gmail. I agree it’s confusing from a naming convention perspective, but it’s more accurate from the point of view of the system.
Brooks Conkle Thanks! It’s a pretty cool paradigm once we get our heads around it. That’s why Google uses the label vs. folder. In the real world one document can’t live in two folders at the same time. However, you can slap as many labels on the it as you want, and remove them when you want. It still lives in the big bin.

Well explained Mark. Definitely confusing at first, but I think's it pretty neat to think of a giant bin of mail that is also categorized in that bin. That one piece of mail can in essence be in multiple different folders but also in the giant bin all at the same time!
GrowMTBF "no label" is what you think of as archived. When you click that button you think Is the "archive" button you are really just removing the "inbox" label from the message. The message is still there since you didn't delete it, and you can still use search to find it again. Google is fundamentally a search company, so their email storage assumes you will use search to find old emails. LABELS are a handy way of adding extra criteria for when you search later.
I have watched a number of videos, including yours, on the new gMail, I have a paid gSuite Account. I don't see anywhere that offers an opportunity to move forward. The new Google Drive automatically upgraded. Maybe Google is punishing me for being a conservative.
How do I keep my Gmail synced with my devices. I view my emails on my cellphone read them all but the account does not indicate read on my emails on the desktop it still showing 75 emails unread, etc. I hope will can help?

I have two Gmail accounts. Initially, all my Google stuff was set up on - lets say Gmail 1. After a security alert from Google regarding my Gmail 2 account, I reset the password for Gmail 2.
From thence onward, all my Google stuff (search, calendar, etc.) defaults to the Gmail 2 account.
I have made Gmail 1 my default for my Gmail but the others still default to Gmail 2?
