I am a big fan of your productivity videos. Keep up the good work. Please do more videos for mobile. I hardly use my pc these days it's getting irrelevant.

Steve. Thanks for the work you do on these videos. They sure are helpful and enlightening. I love Google Calendar but now have a problem. There are porno adds appearing in my Calendar. "Honey-Kinky-Karen 8697" for example. I assume if I click on one I get the 'tour'. Not interested and, in fact, pissed off! These ads - all different - appear at least once a day on different dates in my calendar as reacurring events which I must then remove. Is there a way to deal with this? Because really, it's Google's problem is it not?

I'm trying to set it up so I get an email notification when I have something on my calendar.
trav v (10 months ago)
But I don't want a daily agenda email because I don't have calendar entries daily. I want certain entries to get emailed to me. I can get it so that particular entry emailed to me. JUST FIGURED IT OUT. Go to calendar, make an entry. It must be an event, not a reminder or task. Make the title and body of text then click edit, then on the edit screen click 'add notification' and put it to email, and choose '0 days before' to get the email on teh day or '1 day before' to get hte email the day before.

I have a question about doing something specific in google calendar. I would like to create a recurring event (daily) which will then show the number of times it has reoccurred in each day that it reoccurs in. Basically I am looking for a way to track of each day by a second or 3rd set of numbers if that makes sense.

Google's Tasks feature has been around forever and it looks as old-fashioned as ever. Why do people use clunky stuff like that? The UI is a complete pain. The guy in these vids always looks like he is in the middle of going poo poo.
marie dubois (1 year ago)

Hey Steve, Thanks for the tips! Quick question: do you know of a way to dynamically change the date range an entire calendar? For example: I ran a marathon a year ago and my "Marathon 2015" calendar is still saved. It would be great if I could reuse that calendar just by shifting the start date up to 5/1/16. Let me know - thanks!
ASVAB Coach (2 years ago)

Michael Badame (2 years ago)
Do you know how to avoid duplicate calendar events when inviting someone to a calendar event? This does not happen when sharing a calendar, only invite.
Michael Badame (2 years ago)
It does not duplicate on shared calendars, only invites
dottotech (2 years ago)
+Michael Badame I wish I did, duplicate entries in calendars and contacts managers have long been the bane of my existence.
Carlene Thissen (2 years ago)
Really great tips. Thank you!
Mark Hoffman (2 years ago)
Thanks Steve. Is there a way to open a google contact and make a calendar event with it populating the contact info like name and address? With my work I enter a new clients contact info. and then I find myself reentering all the same information again for the appointment. It's double the work. If I could make a new contact and then in the menu have the option to make an appointment with the contact would be very time saving.
dottotech (2 years ago)
+Mark Hoffman tough question, I don't know of a way to do it from contacts, you can, from an email, or many task Apps Will populate the information into the calendar. But in the native Google apps, I can't see a way to do this.

Chuck Tipton (3 years ago)
Great useful tips. The Ad Insertion over the top of your screen, with no ability to clear the Ad, not so good. Thanks for the ideas Steve.
Chuck Tipton (3 years ago)
Thanks just the same for your efforts, it was helpful!  Have a great day.

maszek (3 years ago)
You seem to be pulling some weight there... Any ideas how to persuade Google to enable sharing Calendars with non-google users and without having to publish shared calendars? It's a feature that already exists for spreadsheets and docs, how tough can it be?
dottotech (3 years ago)
+maszek LOL, I am flattered, but not really a weight-puller!
Brad Smith (3 years ago)
If you enable the 5:AM agenda by email notification 3:12 consider also adding a rule to delete emails if the day has no events. Matches: from:([email protected]) You have no events scheduled today Do this: Delete it
