Kissmetrics, right now I'm at about a 2-3% conversion rate on my Google AdWords campaigns. But it's only been about a week for these 4 campaigns (4 of my best-selling items under my niche). I have decent CTRs at around 3-5% for all 4 campaigns, but I hear that the top 10% of AdWords users get 11.45% conversion rates for every 100 visitors. Do you think I should wait and see how my ads run for a good 4-5 weeks before making any changes? How long should I let my ads run and mature for? I'm getting good targeted unique traffics but I really want to get to at least a 5% conversion rate. I mean some days, I won't get any sales and will still have 70-80 visitors. What do you think? I'm getting sick of these 0 sales days. I just want to be making sales daily. I started my store in early October, if that matters by the way. Also, if the voucher is still available, how do I get the voucher?

Technically setting negative keywords makes no sense in case you are using exact match option, right?
Jarric Bon Creencia (4 months ago)
dude your statement doesnt make sense to me. He's pertaining on an exact match type of keyword. So if ever you are using [PPC services] then someone search a keywords of "best ppc services" your ad will not show up. The dude is definitely got his point of setting a negative keyword using an exact match doesnt make no sense.
Jerel Lorenzo (1 year ago)
no. "implant" is your keyword - You are a dentist - "breast" is a negative keyword. I'm available for hire...

what about modified keywords?

These instructions on youtube to platforms really should be updated as regularly as the platforms themselves, the names of the options are not the same anymore and the matched search, broad match and phrase match I don't see either, so it would be nice to know the new way to access what you are describing. So frustrating with outdated instructions. Your Kissmetrics and if there is an updated video this one should link to the update.

Exactly! Even the Google Analytics platform has changed so I can't find the Matched Search mentioned around 4:33. I understand that filming the whole thing again is tiresome and a lot of work, but the least they could do is add snippets of updated information in the description later.

Very insightful. When we first started we ran through thousands of dollars on broad matches with little conversion. Since we honed everything down to exact match only, our CTR has skyrocketed to over 15%. I'm skeptical of using any type of match queries except for the exact matches. Break everything down into adgroups, get overzealous with it. 30 keywords tops for each adgroup. It doesn't have to be a different product. If you sell Biker T-shirts and Religious T-shirts and Political T-shirts, they're all t-shirts, but each should have their own adgroup. Relevance is KEY in search marketing. Google is a great system if you use it correctly. Great video!

2:52 - Mistake #5 > AdWords is not allowing to use "Macbook Pro" for instance because is a trademark..
Michael Carpenter (3 years ago)
Quick correction... When you are talking about match types you were incorrect on the number of match types and how broad match keywords work. Firstly, there are four match types; broad, broad match modified, phrase and exact. Secondly, broad match keywords will prompt your ad to enter an auction if any one of the words within your keyword selection match a search term, so with your example of nike running shoes, you ad could appear for anything with running in the search term. Broad match modified will only appear if all three words appeared in the search term. Also Google will try to find you addition leads based on what the system believes may be misspellings related to your keyword selection, in which case you will see the term "close variant" next to this when viewing the search terms report.

Great video with some useful inforrmation for sure.  Beginners need to clearly understand broad match vs. modified broad.  'Nike Running Shoes' (as a broad match / no quotes / no brackets) can also grab things like 'Niking hiking boots' or worse.  Hopefully 'modified broad match' will make it into another video.

Glad to be here.. and a big Thanks to Kissmetric for such a wonderful video tut.. I have a question.. Suppose i am running a travel company named abc and have competitor like qwerty and xyz. can i use my competitors name in negative keywords. Also if yes then how it would be beneficial for #waytorank #amitkumarchaturvedi
Anjali Tewatia (4 months ago)
Why would the SERP be affected?
Amit Kumar Chaturvedi (3 years ago)
Thanks. +Akki063 but i want to know what would happen to SERP?
Akki063 (3 years ago)
+Amit Kumar Chaturvedi using your competitor name as negative keyword wont do much help. Think as a client. If a client is searching through specific agency name then they wont click through your adv.
