save to google keep really does not capture a screen shot at times only captures the URL. This becomes a problem when you are trying to save a . screen shot from your email. It would be nice to have everything in Google keep but instead it re routes you back to your email via a link
Steve, not only can you change the category names in the Category Tabs extension, as someone already mentioned earlier in the comments, but in your own video above, you actually showed the page for installing the Category Tabs extension, and that very page shows renamed tabs right on the banner! (Check your video above at 8:00.) BTW, not only can you change the color names to more useful names, but you can also change the ORDER of the color tabs! To make these changes, click on the Google Keep sidebar on the left and, below Settings you'll find "Customize Categories", where you can rename them and reorder the tabs. To change the order, move them around using the little equal signs to the right. Always look forward to all of your videos! :-)
WRT one of the things you said you miss with Evernote, if you use a screen grab programme like Icecream Screen Recorder, you can select a bit of screen to copy, then just paste in Keep. Done. Of course it can be OCR'ed easily as you pointed out.
Hi, thanks for your useful video. I wonder if Google Keep limit the amount of note or data you use on it? I am thinking of using Google Keep as my learning note but I don't know if it allows me to keep as many notes as I want or not. (I have to not A LOT)
Hi , dottotech , having a problem , my desk top , some how went to my passport hard drive , I beleive but do not know what to do to bring it back to the computer , desk top ?? any help would be great , thanks , william and wilma greenwood , [email protected]
Thanks for the video and tips! Subscribed to the channel. Any ideas on how to best incorporate Keep to work with Docs to capture action items or TODOS when you assign comments to people in Docs? I know Drive has a handy way you could search for all comments that are assigned to you (type "followup:actionitems" in the search bar in Drive), but that only captures comments that were assigned to you vs ones were someone was mentioned.
As a long time user of Evernote, it became much more than I needed, so I finally replaced it with Alexa lists. They did a great job of a simple lists, and I like yelling shopping items from the kitchen. I will take a look at this, though. Thanks, good video.
Mr. Steve, I love all of your videos they are great. I have a question about Google Chrome, when I open Google Chrome it opens to a window called Web Search, I have to x out this to close the window and use Google. Why?? and How do I loose this web search window??? Thanks
Thanks for the video Steve. You did not mention a feature of the Chrome Extension for Keep, when you highlight text on the webpage then hit the keep extension, Keep copies that text to the note. You can highlight more text and hit the extension again to copy more text to the note.
Really enjoy your work. I have Keep on both the laptop and phone. Make notes on pc and they automatically appear in phone. Really useful for making shopping lists because I already have the list when I get to the store.
If you right click on the Google Keep Chrome extension you can click on the option to create a new blank note. This is really handy if you're working online (or watching Dotto tech!) and have a thought you'd like to record in Keep without leaving your current browser tab.
Hi Steve! I've been enjoying your videos for years.
To go to the Keep web page you don't need the "web" extension, just the official "clipper" by Google (when you are on an blank page/tab).
I use both Evernote (mainly as a long-term archive and for complex notes or to capture web articles and images) and Keep (almost always on the smartphone, for quick notes and recurring reminders). In the last year I've used a lot more Keep than Evernote, also because I'm not limited to two devices. I'd like Keep to have the notebooks, but I arrange with the various colors and the useful search function.
One aspect of Keep that I don't like is the ordering of notes. It makes it less useful if you have a lot of notes. When I'm in a hurry I do not assign the tags, and when the note must remain in evidence I pin it. But I have hundreds of notes (and several tens pinned... I'm a little messy) so, even if pin it, I don't see at the top of the list the last note created. I don't know how Google orders the notes, perhaps it proposes them at the top based on the reminder's expiration time. So I find it hard to keep an urgent note under my eye, even if I pinned it. Is there a solution?
3:15 - 3:33 The OCR actually captured the word "MENU" that's written backwards since at least that part of the image was flipped 180º horizontally in the assemblage process... :D
When I tried Keep quite a while ago I don't think it had that functionality; now that I know it's there I'll be using Keep. Thanks for pointing it out!
I have a list of car shows in Keep, (city, miles, date, name of show) on my Droid smart phone.
Recently Keep started linking to web sites and Google Maps that it found related to my entry. Problem is it links multiple shows to one map or website.
Kinda nice if I could control it but not so nice uncontrolled. How can I get control or turn this feature off?
Good video mate. Glad you mentioned the ability for the programme to recognise handwriting in images. Thanks for putting in the effort to make this, as a fellow creator I know how much work it is research and produce. Cheers, Steven.
Side note a bit, https://photos.app.goo.gl/3G5hocHy72wLp8Gh6 Google Lens in Google Photos seems more capable than Google Keep's Text grab. See if you could work out a productivity drill on this regard 😉
I am working my way through this video - a bit at a time (not being a whizz kid)
. A lot of it I may never use but I keep finding useful hints. I hadn't used Keep before and I think it is going to be a great tool. I am new to these videos and finding them so useful.
I have used Google Keep only on my phone. But now that I watched your video, I see I have been missing out. That’s what is good about your videos-I ALWAYS LEARN MORE, even if I think I already know about it! That’s why your my go-to guy.
I have my regular Chrome window open on one screen and a small Chrome window on my other screen that takes up about a third of the screen so I can have Google Keep in front of me most of the time - that way if I need to see what I should be doing or need to check on a note, it's right there.
Google Keep is great for note-taken as its sync with my Android phone, iPad and Computer but it missing a table feature like what the iOS notes app have. If they add a table feature into google that would be useful to import tables in to Google sheets.
Also I think Google Keep should beable to import PDFs files.
As other people have mentioned, I like keep but my main beef is that like many of their products they either kill off or eventually replace. Like they released the Google home devices well over a year ago now (maybe over two?), And they still don't allow you to take notes in Google keep. For example if you want to create a grocery list you have to use a different Google app for that (since it pays them financially). If they allowed you to use keep on Google home, I'd go full in on it.
Thanks, Steve, for another great video. I like the Save to Google Keep app. I don't know if that app gives the right click save to Keep option or if that option is separate. I like Keep and look forward to video tips about it.
I think I'll stick with Evernote. The thing with Google is that one day you'll be using one of their applications, and next day you'll find that Google discontinued or duplicated the service as they have frequently done with other applications.
when on a webpage you can select text and right click and your context menu has the option to save to keep
not sure if this is mac only ? or installed when the save to keep extension is installed
but the beauty of this is you can select text right click and it saves the selected text and a link to the page
often I want to remember something on that page and just having the link I sometimes think ? what was it on this page but this way I have the selection and the link
How do you get the old Google keep. They destroyed the grocery list functionality with their "update” on Android. I just want to check a box and it move to the bottom like before now you can't even scroll through it without marking things off, there's no check boxes you just touch and in and it disappears. I guess they didn't think people might want to scroll through a list, it's just too frustrating to use and I have gone back to pencil and paper. Tbh, Google Assistant on my phone is way better than Google home because it can give web results and it's smarter. The only reason to use my Google home for anything, I always have my phone with me, was too say hey Google add xyz to my shopping list whenever I thought of something, now there's no usefulness to my Google home anymore. I've tried ifttt and it's not working can someone PLEASE help me.
Mao González yes it's a little better, but still not what I'd like, which is good old Google keep. I've made the default list a new list called Jabawocky that for now works with the list you linked. I still can't believe there's not a clean way to do it with Google keep using ifttt. Thank you.
+SuperTRev it's not nothing. Keep didn't make a fucking mistake. Are you retarded? Jajaja note, keep didn't make a mistake. That is worth noting it. But yes, retarded (good on math though, I have to say)
+SuperTRev I didn't. I specialize making people to comment one more time. Achieve. Even when you say it didn't worth it, I have to thanks you made my night. Thanks for waiting those minutes and ten calories. Thank you sir.
For me - I use the labels for Projects, etc.....and the colors I use for highlighting items, such as if something is active I use red & that color is labeled NEED TO DO - If I've asked someone a questions and I'm "WAITING ON" a reply from someone that color is YELLOW and called Waiting On. This way, certain times of the day or week, I will check certain colors to see if there's anything I can do about them. Using the Waiting On example it pulls from all my Labels instead of me having to go into the labels and see if I'm waiting on anything. Yes I also set reminders - but it just brings things more visual for me.
The issue I have is coming up with something new for each video, I was starting to stress on it, and actually it was slowing me down. But I am glad you liked them, when the muse strikes there will be the odd one.
You can change the names of the colors (category tabs) - & that button will also take you straight to Keep as well if you click on it. - To change the names of the colors - right click on the add-on button - options - and there you can rename them. It's a great option and I use it all of the time.
The problem is not that Facebook and Google are the only advertising platforms. The problem is that they are considered mainstream media and without these two, the trend of cryptocurrencies gaining legitimacy is delayed. That is right, I said delayed not blocked or prevented.
The World Has Changed.
Five years ago, when bitcoin was unknown to most people, this might have been a fatal move. Today is a different story. I recently traveled to a remote mountain town in the interior of Mexico. Everyone I met had heard about Bitcoin and eyes lit up with excitement when I ask if I could pay for lunch with bitcoin.
Today are dozens of websites dedicated to cryptocurrencies, either holding them, exchanging them or just writing about them. Probably the most effective advertising remains on Google, it is called Google Search and it is free.
If someone wants to learn about owning bitcoin or any other currency, there is a ton of educational information.

Not All Regulation Is Inherently Bad.
If we examine the full spectrum of regulation to this point on a global scale there is one common target most everywhere. That is the practice of exchanges. So far there has been little or not regulation, threatened or enacted, to protect investors from loss of funds due to security breaches.
Capitulation Is A Good Sign.
