Great explanation. I especially like the intuitive interface of Asana, great for managing iterative workflows. I´m an employee of Zenkit, a start-up which has developed a project management tool, too. I think when it comes to managing more complex processes our tool is definitive worth to take a look at. In order to get a better impression of who we are and what we´re doing I would like to draw your attention to a thematically linked article, we´ve recently published https://zenkit.com/en/blog/how-to-keep-on-top-of-your-projects-task-management/ Would be interested in hearing your thoughts and feedback.

is there any way to add expenses and make them the "tasks" for each project?

Steve, I saw your 'Canned Responses' card on the screen. Have you done a tutorial on this? When I first saw Canned Responses on a video tutorial I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Such a simple thing that I now could not live without for my set up. Reckon others would be in the same boat. Another simple tool I could not do without is Boomerang which I use on all 3 Gmail accounts and absolutely could not do without. The caveat here is I don't use a CRM (because CRMs do my head in - one-person gig here) so as a very small operator Boomerang handles all my follow-up emails and deals with non-responses beautifully. Just a couple of tutorial ideas there.

Watching your tuts in 2018 and what actually happened during the last 1 year? did they block the Dashboard view feature and make it usable in premium version only? I can not see the same button you're showing in your video in nowhere.
byungok Kim (5 months ago)
stupid me. I just found a solution. the new project button seems to be little different. could easily recognize in other way around. thanks for sharing this video by the way

Lamar Morgan (5 months ago)
Steve, Are you using Asana instead of Slack? How do you feel Asana compares to Airtable?
Lamar Morgan (5 months ago)
Steve, Here is what I recommend you do when you put Air table to the test - test it in collaboration with what Air table calls a "block" (another software). I recommend a NEW block called "Sendgrid." I idea here is to automate email and it's feedback into a "smart database" that is configurable. Yes, there is a need to make both the computer and the Internet man's slave...rather than the other way around.
dottotech (5 months ago)
I am using BOTh Asana and and Slack, but have not tested Airtable.

Does Asana secure the data at rest and transmission? Also, is the calendar able to be imported to say, google calendar ?
Jessica Roldán (5 months ago)
SunshineSurfsup1 this is a very interesti ng question. I would like to know too
Kemp Kennedy (7 months ago)
Our company is currently using Base Camp. I'm not a huge fan of this tool, but it gets the job done. I have recently been seeing ads for Monday, which looks just fricken amazing!!! Have you guys looked at that tool yet. It just seems so much simpler and more intuitive than any others I have run across. It is pricey however, so I don't think I could sell my team on it at it's cost point. But wanted to know if it is as impressive as it looks.
dottotech (7 months ago)
I have only seen ads and looked at the site, no current plans for a review, but you never know!
LouAnn Trischler (7 months ago)
That was fantastic! I had actually just started with Trello this week due to the visual aid, but thought I would check out Asana at a friend's recommendation. I think this will be a better choice for our team. Thanks for the info! And, you have a new subscriber.

Asana is a good tool but in a team, you have to choose the right one, so each member is able to use it and that the tool got all functions or features you need for your project. So it should be considered with some key features in your mind. On our blog we showed some features that should be in such team management software if you want to use it in different ways ( https://blog.zenkit.com/build-a-stronger-team-by-with-team-management-software-123326baf8cb ) I don´t know Asana good enough to say, it has all these features, maybe you can answer this?

G'day Steve, Just wondering with all your experience what software you would recommend for Communication and task/project management tool for an association with around 10-20 volunteers. We have researched and noticed, "Slack", "Asana", "Flock". We are also wondering your thoughts on "Our Cat Herder" Thanks chris

Mr. Dotto, Have you discovered any hacks for printing the BOARDS to include sub-tasks??? ...I loathe the print view for all lists & boards in Asana! :-(

Asana has gone pretty far, but it's still behind Bitrix24 and Wrike. No Gantt? No time tracking? No dependencies? No resource tracking? No client management? I don't get people who pay for Asana when Bitrix24 is free and unlimited.
Dmitry Valyanov (1 year ago)
Hi Steve! When are you going to do Bitrix24 review? It's a lot more powerful that Asana with great client management features, despite being free.
Aspire (1 year ago)
Thank you so much for the video! Just starting with Asana, so your video has been valuable to me :)
Great video. I use Asana to manage marketing tasks and love it. I also put together some hacks to automate task creation and make Asana even more useful. Read my hacks on Reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/6j82oe/5_asana_hacks_for_free_version_that_will_make/
Lori Feldman (1 year ago)
Steve, well done. My holy grail feature is tasking out of Gmail. Ie., client sends me something to do via email, I click and create a task. Does Asana do that? If not, know whose does? (Insightly was the only one I found, but it's more CRM, rather than PM).
dottotech (1 year ago)
You can send a task to Asana from Email, I am not sure how specific you need, but Asana accepts email to your account.
Ivan Hoe (1 year ago)
@dottotech, Hi Steve, thank you for this Asana walk through. Gonna try it later.

Very useful review actually. I am going to start playing with Asana tomorrow now that you've explained many of the features I was interested in. I have two questions though... I a have a 6 month project that I am about to start. So I see that you can create " phases " for the project.. but what about about stages or tasks that overlap each other ? Can you see that on the board too ? The other question is... can you create subtasks ? Thanks !
Filip Stankovski (1 year ago)
Can you actually sync Asana Calendar and Google calendar with the correct scheduled time? When I schedule a task in Asana calendar it shows as all day event in google calendar...

I discovered Dottotech's amazing amd extremely useful videos tonight whilst struggling to stay awake and comfort my sick child. I now have no intention of going back to bed! Over the last 3 hours I have become addicted! You are addressing every productivity/ communication/ project & task management/ app integration/ query that I have ever had! Thankyou so much for sharing your knowledge with the world and giving us the options and sufficient kmowledge needed to choose how we track and operate the most vital parts of our business and its teams. I will be recommending all of the videos I have watched to my team tomorrow- enabling us to expand on our communication/task management processes- and blow us away with knowledge of available applications that we can use to enhance our operations! I am super impressed and forever grateful! Thanks again!!

0.75 works quite well, without having a "drunken" feeling:-)
Stefan Heinrichs (1 year ago)
Hallo Mr. Dotto, thank you for your work. My constructive critic is: you are talking way too fast. Taking a step back, it seems a cartoon of yourself. This makes it difficult for me to follow. I'm a follower from Germany, I understand english, but not that fast. I'll try Googles speed feature at 0.75. Your chosen themes are very interesting. I'm a crofts-man. I need measurements saved and processed. The gathering and calculating ideas from our clients is our work. The companies seem to deliver some interesting options.
Dave Angers (1 year ago)
You're 3 for 3 Steve. I've watched 3 of your videos and found all 3 a perfect balance of insightful and straight to the point. I subscribed to your channel, 'liked' the video and I'm thinking of running for president of your fan club.

I would like to know if you offer a deep course on Asana? I know you offer a course going over the 4 more popular apps but I want one focusing on Asana and project management. Thanks!
gerardo martinez (1 year ago)
Asana app for iPhone... it doesn't have the option of calendar and attachments from dropbox or box only pictures...but Trello has it! I love Asana but in this particular option Trello app wins. Great Video, thank you for sharing your knowledge and thoughts, that help me to understand better this great tool.
Steve, I have a small team. We are testing Slack, but we also need a task manager. Do you think that Asana can replace Slack so that we could stick with one app instead of two?
Michelle Walker (1 year ago)
We have tasks that need to be completed either monthly or annually. Does Asana allow your task to reoccur/ regenerate monthly or annually? or would you have to re-enter the task?

I tried Asana out brielfy ages ago, liked it, but stopped using it. Need a solution like this again and this video was super informative. thanks for taking the time! Two things that make this an easy choice for me: chain based event sequences and dropbox integration :)

Great tips Steve. Very helpful, thanks!

Very nice presentation of Asana Steve. I wounder if Asana has facilities to "early start, late start, early finish and late finish" tasks to calculate the CPM (Critical Path Method). Or if you indicate another free software for it. Best Regards.
dottotech (1 year ago)
I am not aware of those features, but you should find the answer here https://asana.com/support/

Any info about whether you can view the visual calendar chronologically without manually re-ordering cards? This is the one big negative I've experienced with Trello.

Asana is frustatingly slow. Both on PC and android phone. I was considering it over trello because it has more feature but slow syncing & loading is a deal breaker.
Great Video Steve! How can I change my lists into a board if I had already started a project before the boards came out?
TheDebbieWatson (1 year ago)
Corks Critter Care - Pet & Home Sitting Services I don't think you can do that right now. It's an update coming later.

Well done, Steve. Asana has released some exciting features. I really think that you are right on that the Kanban cards view is definitely a game changer.
