What if you already have an ecommerce website and you want to use shopify payments or pos systems for your site and on the go, do you need solely a shopify ecommerce website or can you use your own say wordpress.?
Edwidge Guillaume (1 month ago)
+Brennan Valeski ok great! Thank you so much!
Brennan Valeski (1 month ago)
To use their payment processing and pos, you would need a Shopify ecommerce store. You can also use your own Wordpress site with woo commerce and square pos.
Nancy S. Flores (1 month ago)
Hi, thank you for your video. What kind of payment method would you recommend if I live in Sweden?
Brennan Valeski (1 month ago)
You're welcome :) I would actually take a look at this list from Shopify themselves: https://www.shopify.com/payment-gateways/sweden

I have shopify payement and i want to transfer 10000$ from my shopify account to my bank account in morocco how much do I think It will take and if it's a problem if i do transfer that amount of money
Brennan Valeski (1 month ago)
Shopify pays directly to your bank account. There isn't exactly a holding time there so I'm not sure what you're asking.
Tri Wahyu Saputro (2 months ago)
Can I activate shopify without credit/debit card
Brennan Valeski (2 months ago)
No, the platform is paid
Tri Wahyu Saputro (2 months ago)
I have a paypal business account and it's not connected with credit/debit card, is that able to use it on my shopify?
Brennan Valeski (2 months ago)
yes you can use that account on Shopify
Tri Wahyu Saputro (2 months ago)
I've made few transaction with my paypal account to selling my logo design on instagram, then I will try to dropshipping shopify with that paypal
Arbel Barak (2 months ago)
So after checking for a gateway, as I'm selling in the US but I'm IL based do I need to add a currency convertor plugin to exchange between USD and ILS? If so, what's the fees and prices of these apps? I imagine the exchange fee to be quite high, at least as much as PayPal wouldn't it?
Arbel Barak (2 months ago)
Thanks for getting back to me Brennan Valeski. I'll surely check them out. See what fits me best. All the best.
Brennan Valeski (2 months ago)
Currency converter plug-ins are readily available on the Shopify app store. I would recommend offering that functionality to your visitors. Additionally, some themes actually come with them pre-installed. The checkouts are converted to the store's local currency so I'm not sure about the cost of exchange rates.

paypal is awful !! defo not recommend to use for your business. maybe personal use if your a buyer but as a seller i defo don't recommend paypal
Neyah Official (2 months ago)
and i just read your comment back saying '' they will understand you will have loads of transactions through'' maybe your experience are different but theirs alot of people that have tons of sales go through and even when the paypal account is already signed up as a business account Paypal will still hold your funds and say as an excuse ' because so many transactions are going through we need to make sure this is not suspicious activity'' even though they can clearly see all the transactions are coming from your business ..like i said earlier they are shady and not reliable to use for long term for business
Neyah Official (2 months ago)
hey and i have a business account with them and they have still messed around with my account ! and i have provided them documents and everything is filled out Right on my paypal. i had a lot of sales come through one day and paypal decided to hold the money it so silly a this interrupts business. i could go on how bad they are but i would be here all day lol i have opened a shopify account now but way to wary to use paypal i might have to use payoneer or sams cart or something different as i cant keep going through that silliness with paypal ..honestly i would not recommend paypal for business log term there way to shady
Brennan Valeski (2 months ago)
PayPal can have issues, but you just need to make sure to set up a business PayPal account. Then they understand you're going to have a lot of transactions going through.
gershom papalotzi (2 months ago)
Do you need a bank account to accept payments? I'm 17 and I cant get a bank account for my self :(
Brennan Valeski (2 months ago)
Yes, you need a bank account to run a business. I had a bank account at like 12. You can open one under your parents.
Milad Khatibi (3 months ago)
someone please help! I have to find a way to create merchant account to provide payment gateways for my store but since I'm from (Iran) I'm having difficulty finding merchant provider that supports Iran!!. I have contacted 58 different providers but yet I haven't succeeded finding anyone that could help! can anyone help me with that? I'd really be grateful.
Anastasiia H. (3 months ago)
An interesting angle about 2Checkout, never thought about that! Payment gateways are very important for every person who starts his own ecommerce business. Also I have found some additional information on this topic. Maybe it will be useful for somebody. https://theappsolutions.com/blog/development/ecommerce-payment-gateway-comparison/
Moe (3 months ago)
So if I get a sale today and when the buyer receives his item can i transfer the money from shopify to my bank account or will PayPal be required so my funds can go there. Im really getting annoyed of PayPal thats why i want my funds transferred to my bank account
Brennan Valeski (3 months ago)
Hey there Moe, you're in luck... Shopify actually transfers your money straight to your bank account after a couple days of the transaction from your customer. For Paypal, the same thing happens, but you do have to log in and then select for the money to be transferred to your bank account (which you can do for free).
Island Kitten Chrissie (4 months ago)
You didn't actually give useful information in regards to all the gateways you listed in the title of your video. you really only explained about stripe and it's integration into shopify. It so happens that I was looking for information on 2checkout. When I saw the title about understanding the payment gateways and 2checkout, I immediately clicked and it just so happens that this video is an actual waste of time and didn't really give anything on 2checkout which is disappointing
Island Kitten Chrissie (4 months ago)
Thanks. I did watch that video.
Brennan Valeski (4 months ago)
Hey Chrissie, I'm sorry you feel this way. This video was more designed to explain the different options people have versus showing how to set all of them up. I do have another video on the channel going over more specifics on 2checkout specifically.

Joycelyn Foo (4 months ago)
+Brennan Valeski do i have to be a US citizen to get an online US bank? any bank suggestions?
Brennan Valeski (4 months ago)
That can work, you can also get a US bank account online. I'm not the best person to answer such a specific question as I have not done it myself.
Elio Ndreka (5 months ago)
Hey I live in Albania and my country has Paypal and 2checkout as best payment gateways here, and I want to know wich is the best choice, adding both of payments at my store or only one of them like paypal ???
Brennan Valeski (5 months ago)
Add both, you want people to have more than one option when paying on your store
Pema Namgay (5 months ago)
My store location will be Bhutan but i am planning to use bank account of my friends who live in Australia? Will shopify payment works?
Brennan Valeski (5 months ago)
Yeah it should work. I would call Shopify to ask them what your options are, they have really good customer service for specific questions like that.
Reza Reza (6 months ago)
does anyone here can explain me if why do we need to put a different system like amazon and a current revenue in making our shopify store?
Brennan Valeski (5 months ago)
Hey Reza, you can check the list on the Shopify website for available payment gateways.
Reza Reza (6 months ago)
plus also i'm currently live in Philippines what are the payments or gateway payments in philippines in shopify store?

I hate videos which start out with, "Hey, guys...what's up?" Come on, try to be a little more adult/professional, please! I'm not one to concede conversational language to "millennial-speak". And, get off my lawn. :)
glory (6 months ago)
Im trying to add my credit card details but keeps on declining. what should i do?
Brennan Valeski (6 months ago)
You get them online from amazon, or in gas station/store.
glory (6 months ago)
Brennan Valeski Exactly how do I get a prepaid card..? I live in a third world country and I understand that the stripe payments does not work. I'm trying to pick a plan but its not also going through.. Please help!
Brennan Valeski (6 months ago)
Try using another card. I've heard some people buy a prepaid card to pay for Shopify and it works fine. For accepting payments you need to use a bank account/paypal.

You CAN accept credit card payments with PayPal. You can enable PayPal Guest in your PayPal settings, then buyers will be able to choose whether to use a credit/debit card or use a PayPal wallet
Saleh Nasser (4 months ago)
What if Braintree is not supported in my country (Malaysia)? Will I still be able to accept card payments through paypal?
カラス (4 months ago)
UPDATE! You can use Braintree in order to use PayPal as a credit/debit card gateway on your checkout page as if you were using Stripe. It's way better than PayPal Guest
Brennan Valeski (6 months ago)
Awesome! Thanks for dropping the info.
Syed Qayyum (6 months ago)
So why is credit card fee and transaction fees being charged ?
Brennan Valeski (6 months ago)
They’re charged because they process the card through their gateway for you.
The Coyote (6 months ago)
Im based in the UK, targeting people in the USA, what do you recommend?
Dekes'O'Glory (6 months ago)
Thanks for the video! I had one question though, I live in Canada so, I can use stripe, let's say I want to make my stores currency into USD does this mean I need to have a USD bank account? Thank you
Brennan Valeski (6 months ago)
I believe it will auto set to the visitors country. If not you probably want to put USD.
Dekes'O'Glory (6 months ago)
But, what does my default currency have to be?
Brennan Valeski (6 months ago)
You’re welcome, to answer your question you don’t need a USD bank account. All you need to do is install a currency converter app on your store from the Shopify app/plug-in store.

wich gateway can i use if i sell vaporizer dont risk them kicking me out later, i live in the us...
Gustavo Medrano (6 months ago)
Wow! thats it im done. if the gateway guy doesn't get back to me tomorrow i will close the acount and concentrate on another niche
jxsilicon9 (7 months ago)
Google also has problems with vaporizer. It's annoying.
Gustavo Medrano (7 months ago)
OH MANNN!!! i cant advertise on facebook??? this is what they told me after i told them i want to sell vaporizers only, no cbd, nicotine or any other substances : The decision does not relate to the legality of the product, it is a restriction that is in place with our Shopify Payments banking partners, which is why we do not have flexibility in this matter. As outlined in section B.5. of the Shopify Payments Terms of Service, this includes products such as bongs, vaporizers, hookahs, e-cigarettes and accessories. You can certainly continue to use Shopify to power your business, and use an alternative payment gateway to process your payments.
Brennan Valeski (7 months ago)
You should be okay with Shopify payments, just keep in mind you can’t advertise those on Facebook ads as it’s against their terms.
Vitalie Damian (7 months ago)
hey man, I currently live in Italy, but I want to sell via shopify mostly in US, if I open a personal Payoneer account it's like a US bank for me in wich I can receive payments, so can I use shipify payments in this case ?
Suleiman Muhammed Aliyu (2 months ago)
Wrong. You can use stripe but you can’t use Shopify payments without a physical US bank account. I might be wrong tho. Did it work for you?
Brennan Valeski (7 months ago)
Yes I’m pretty sure you can do that with a US bank account.
Malloy (8 months ago)
Thank you so much but In Nigeria PayPal doesn’t allow that so we can’t receive payments we can only pay for stuff
Brennan Valeski (7 months ago)
Ah, gotcha. Well good thing is most people pay through cards so you don’t have to worry.
Silver Outbreak (8 months ago)
Im in the USA and i want to ad stripe but i dont see that option to pick from on shopify, is there any links or help i can get?
Brennan Valeski (8 months ago)
I may have misspoke in the video but to utilize Stripe with Shopify it’s essentially Shopify Payments (its powered by Stripe). It’s the best option for someone in the USA with how easy it is to use and it’s native integration.

Every provider ask me for Legal Company data! I can't setup a credit card payment without a legal tax payer company ? ...
Ena Willy (8 months ago)
I dont own SNN, or EIN..
Brennan Valeski (8 months ago)
The name of your Shopify store
Ena Willy (8 months ago)
Online Money 24/7 And what should i type at "Legal Company Name" ..
Brennan Valeski (8 months ago)
They ask for a tax ID which you can use your social security number for.
Ahmad Mhamad (8 months ago)
Thank you so much you are awesome! I have one question iam in iran and iran isn’t in the shopify country list so i create shopify with my uncle address and he create account in germany.. so i can use the account but in that moment i have to create credit card with him address or with my address?
Brennan Valeski (8 months ago)
Bank for him, since that is the payment processor. You may want to look into other payment processors that work for Shopify that accept people in Iran. That way you have control over everything easily.
Ahmad Mhamad (8 months ago)
Online Money 24/7 so it should me go to bank or him?
Brennan Valeski (8 months ago)
The bank account to accept payments would need to be in his country. The credit card you use to pay for the Shopify monthly cost is with your address.
Anais Jade (8 months ago)
In my country we have Ron not dollars (for example). Will Shopify convert the dollars intro Rons? because I will use the card that mom gave to me (it is on her name) and I can't really convert without her(from the bank)
Anais Jade (8 months ago)
Online Money 24/7 Thank u
Brennan Valeski (8 months ago)
Yeah that will work
Abdelbasset Ouzzi (8 months ago)
if i have a personal paypal account. can i use it on shopify?????
Brennan Valeski (8 months ago)
PayPal is one option for people to pay you. The card provider like visa and mastercard goes through Shopify payments if you use that one. So yes.
Abdelbasset Ouzzi (8 months ago)
if i set i personal paypal acc can people pay me with visa/mastercard??? thank you by the way.
Brennan Valeski (8 months ago)
Yes
Janson Chew (8 months ago)
2checkout ask for tax and business registration . We need to register a company to get the payment ?
Brennan Valeski (8 months ago)
They ask for your tax id, which you can use your SSID for. I have not personally used 2checkout so I’m not sure their rules on business registration. I’ve used Shopify payments, Stripe, and PayPal in which none of them ask to have business registration. I’ve never registered a company, but it depends on the provider you use.
Purple Hawk (8 months ago)
Say I live in Europe but sell only to US residents. What do I use? Also, how and where do you receive your money from shopify? Thanks
Atakan (8 months ago)
Purple Hawk Haha denk dat de bank het wel kan omzetten maar idk
Purple Hawk (8 months ago)
Online Money 24/7 - Actually, another question. My country's currency is euros. Now if I sell my products in dollars, can shopify convert that to dollars and deposit that on my bank? (My bank works with iDeal, in the Netherlands)
Purple Hawk (8 months ago)
Online Money 24/7 - Ok, great. Thanks!
Brennan Valeski (8 months ago)
You use the ones available for your country in Europe. It’s based on where you live, not your customers. & you receive direct deposit from Shopify to your bank account as well as PayPal payments if you setup for people to pay you through that.
Shiv NiceGuy (8 months ago)
What's the different between transaction fee and credit card rate?
Brennan Valeski (8 months ago)
They give you a deal based on volume they assume you’re going to bring in with more sales.
Shiv NiceGuy (8 months ago)
I see, but how can a different Shopify plan reduce the amount you have to pay to the Card Company?
Brennan Valeski (8 months ago)
Credit card fee you pay for the processing company like visa and mastercard, and transaction fee is for the payment gateway. That’s why Shopify’s is free since they make money from your monthly subscription already.
CashGotHeat (8 months ago)
Will I have access to my funds immediately to be able to purchase the product after someone buys something?
Bobo Moh21 (4 months ago)
Brennan Valeski i heard paypal hold them for 21 days is that true ? Cuz I don’t have a budget to pay for the order from my own money so if there’s a way to avoid that
Brennan Valeski (8 months ago)
Only with PayPal, all the other options have a few processing days to transfer to your bank account. Therefore, you want to have some extra funds to pay for your products.
