How to Use Swim Baits for Largemouth Bass

671 ratings | 262951 views
Good Anglers carry a great variety of baits to adapt to the bite. Recently soft swim baits have shown to be highly versatile lures - especially for bass. Al and James Lindner are out in the middle of summer on deep water structures teaching some of their best methods with swim baits.

I had real good luck fishing Storm Wildeye Swim Shad. Either the 3" or 4" size. Toss them into an area with lots of bass like under a dock about a foot from a fish and you got yourself a bass. And if not, you can catch them on a slow retrieve on the way back still.

Another ten years, and we'll be able to stay home and let our electronics go fishing for us.  I have a strong feeling there isn't an angler left who has the faintest clue what being a sportsman even means.   They don't even know how to fish, how to read a lake, how to tell where the bass are, unless some piece of electronic gear tells them.  And when the gear does tell them, they go after  the fish with two or three or four hundred dollar rods and reels filled with line an elephant couldn't break.  It's all about the money, all about catching fish by any means, and then calling yourself an angler when you haven't earned it.  Just don't call yourself a sportsman.  You don't even know the meaning of the word.

Never used an electronic fish finder once in my life...

James Ritchie you sound like you have a stick stuck up your ass

I was thinking the same thing.. except I use jigs and different depth crankbaits..I might miss a few spots and won't be able to tell you if something is 30 feet or 130 feet deep but that's not really my zone of fishing anyways...

James Ritchie you must not fish with kayak anglers. We are competitive yet good sportsman. Don't need electronics on my yak. Dragging Texas or Carolina rigs tell me the depth, structure, and transitions. Can always get nice bass.

James Ritchie says every guy that can't catch shit I'd like to put you on a lake you've never fished before for 8 hours with nothing besides a rod and a reel and see what sort of bag you can throw together lol such a fuck boy

Where can you get those same swim baits at in the video

I've seen storm swim baits at my local walmart
Geoffrey Rogers (2 years ago)
I've used one pk of the curly tail by storm n had good luck with em. But now the only ones by storm that I can find are the paddle tails but they don't even swim right. The best swimbaits I've been having pretty good luck with here lately are the Berkley Powerbait Pearl Red Eye shad in 3" the Firetiger is ok n the Shad color is decent. I can't seem to find the bluegill color. u can get a pk of 5 prerigged for 3 bucks at Wal-Mart, I paid 5 something for the same package of firetiger at Academy but must have been defective pk bc one fish would tear the internal weight through the bait. That was the last time I bought the powerbait from academy. If I can't get a bite from a spinner or brush hog I'll tie on a pearl red eye shad n then I'll start catching em

Hey Idiot, shut up and put the fish back in the water, he could give a SHIT about what you're talking about----- btw., these storm lures look like stiff turds in the water........ you'll do way better with Keitech swimbaits.

The host guide annoys the piss out of me, you can tell he's a talker and knows no wrong. He seems like one of the few types of people I would probably punch in the mouth after a day or 2.

I love my swim baits but you can't go wrong with a blade spinner with copper blades for dark water and night fishing!

Strike king lures "Midnight Special Premier Spinnerbait " have accounted for a LOT of my big bass over the years!!!

What's the name of that storm kit with the interchangeable weights?
clueworm82 (7 years ago)
@Drivinfast247 based on my experience yes you should use brighter colors in dark water and more natural colors in clear water. This doesnt mean you have to follow this to catch fish. Example, if its a windy day or cloudy ill throw bright colors in clear water. Helps the fish see it. However if youre using a super bright yellow lure in still clear water that may not be the best thing to use. Try different things as you never know what it is that will get those fish biting
Ziggy Livingston (7 years ago)
the lindners and their nicknames for fish. lol
NateRB (7 years ago)
@Drivinfast247 It's all trial and error. Ask 100 different anglers the same qustion and you'll get 100 different answers. Find what works on your lake on your target species.
Pete Pizzurro (8 years ago)
@wolfmanorfisherman and they say it will appear too bright and unnatural. Ive always stuck by the clear water/bright colors and I do great. I know for a fact that when I use a clown color X-Rap on a bright, sunny day and clear water I kill it. Now that same lure on a cloudy day or slightly murky water I get zilch.
Pete Pizzurro (8 years ago)
Heres what I dont get, some anglers say to use bright colors in clear water and darker colors in stained water. But here they say just the opposite.
