WATCH LIVE: Former KZN Hawks boss on Sunday Times saga

22:49
The Sunday Times has apologised and announced that it will return all awards and prize money received for now discredited reports on the Cato Manor "death squad", the SARS "rogue unit" and Zimbabwean extraditions. The newspaper's editor, Bongani Siqoko said the articles created an "impression" that then-head of the Hawks in KwaZulu-Natal, Johan Booysen, was "directly and personally responsible" for the killings. Siqoko said that Booysen had told the newspaper he did not have any direct involvement in the unit – and "we have no reason not to accept his version".

Herb Schiller Reads the New York Times #3: The Sunday Times: 712 Pages of Waste

27:49
Herb Schiller Reads the New York Times #3: The Sunday Times: 712 Pages of Waste November 11, 1981, TRT: 28 minutes #3 Herb Schiller in top form provides a quick and quippy deconstruction of the wasteful excess of the NYTimes. The NYTimes sets the agenda of what to think about and gives us the standard around which to organize our lives. From the initial physical analysis of the massive heft and size of the paper, to a page-turning cruise of the excessive space given to advertising, his analysis hits the mark. Thumping all 8 pounds of the NY Sunday Times on the table he demonstrates that shear size of the NYTimes is a testament to the fact that the American economy “lives and runs on waste”. Meanwhile much of the waste in the NYTimes comes from the ads- 88 pages of ads for luxury goods, furs, high end liquor, resort wear, cars and jewelry, in the Times Sunday Magazine before even getting to a substantial article. This careful reading shows how the NYTimes sets the political agenda from foreign affairs to potential presidential candidates, aesthetic agenda in architecture, and through the NYT Book Review wields enormous influence in dictating what books are read and noticed: those distributed by the large publishers that advertise in the same pages. A particularly insightful look at how an article on nuclear energy in the USA neatly deflects the fact that American’s consume gross amounts of the world energy sources by suggesting that other nations would if they could. Includes a look at the travel and real estate sections as well. Schiller was an American media critic, sociologist, author, and scholar. He warned of two major trends in his prolific writings and speeches: the private takeover of public space and public institutions at home, and U.S. corporate domination of cultural life abroad, especially in the developing nations. His eight books and hundreds of articles in both scholarly and popular journals made him a key figure both in communication research and in the public debate over the role of the media in modern society. One of the first Paper Tiger Television shows… ever! This is one of the first 6 shows that started it all. Broadcast live on public access television in NYC 1981. Communications expert Herb Schiller dissects the New York Times newspaper of record in these classic PTTV episodes. Schiller is the perfect blend of level-headed professorial presentation of the facts and the irreverent media industry myth smashing, a balance that is the hallmark of Paper Tiger productions. A biting analysis of the New York Times’ cultural, political and economical hegemony in setting the agenda that shapes the news and culture industry. Shot in both black and white and color video. Do you know where your brains are?

The Truth behind the fabricated article about me featured in The British Sunday Times & The Guardian

12:55
COPYRIGHT, in 2011, the book I wrote based on my life story in 1993 was turned into a movie of the same name. During this time I was subjected to huge interest from the media, wanting to know more about my life story and also to hear it from my own mouth. It was also during this period that three of what I considered to be respectable media outlets decided they might sell more newspapers by putting a sceptical, negative twist on my life story which went on to damage my credibility as a writer and continue to affect my good name in a defamatory manner to this day. These newspapers, The Sunday Times, The Guardian and The Independent all ran a similar article in which they made false, unproven statements. The article’s mentioned all stemmed from a man who claimed to be a journalist from The Irish Times. This man, who I welcomed into my home when he claimed to be a student journalist decided he was going to use his personal vendetta against me to create a name for himself in the media. Unfortunately for him, he made a fool of himself and no longer works in the media but the damage he initially inflicted still has a significant effect on my good name. Take for example how Wikipedia has decided to only use these slanderous articles as a source of information about me. I requested to each of these newspapers to retract their defamatory articles and print an apology as the articles were causing an extremely negative effect on my credibility and the good reputation I had spent years building as a writer. This, and also I requested the retractions as the articles were based on completely unreliable sources and no solid proof. For more detailed information please see the article I posted on my official website in response to the slanderous articles. I am now starting the proceedings of bringing each of these newspapers and the people involved to court for defamation and long-term damage to my name. I am currently searching for an experienced lawyer so my good name can be restored and all involved can learn the lesson of why assumptions cannot be written as fact, especially in the media. http://www.latifyahia.net/news/dirty-tricks-and-media-manipulation

10 Inappropriate jokes in Teen Titans Go only adults will get. Subscribe to our channel: https://goo.gl/cv6b96 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Teen Titans Go!” is a kids cartoon on Cartoon Network that follows the adventures of Robin and his four superhero teen friends, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy and Cyborg. Given that this is a cartoon on a kids network, you would think all the episodes would be appropriate for children, right? WRONG! There are several episodes that are definitely NOT for kids. Episodes like “Mr. Butt,” “Lazy Sunday,” “Legs,” “Pirates,” and “Driver’s Ed,” have some strong, suggestive jokes that kids probably shouldn’t be watching. We like a good joke as much as the next guy, but it might not be the best humor for innocent eyes and ears. And then there are the illegal activities, reckless driving, substance use innuendos and bedroom relations. Some of these episodes were enough to make us blush! We can’t believe the censors didn’t catch these! Here are 10 “Teen Titans Go!” Episodes that WEREN’T FOR KIDS.” You’re not going to believe the crazy stuff this show got away with for number 1! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheThingscom/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.thethings.com/

It is published by Times Newspapers Ltd, a subsidiary of News UK, which is in turn owned by News Corp. Times Newspapers also publishes The Times. The two papers were founded independently and have been under common ownership only since 1966. They were bought by News International in 1981. The Sunday Times occupies a dominant position in the quality Sunday market; its circulation of just under one million equals that of its main rivals, The Sunday Telegraph and The Observer, combined. While some other national newspapers moved to a tabloid format in the early 2000s, The Sunday Times has retained the larger broadsheet format and has said that it will continue to do so. It sells more than twice as many copies as its sister paper, The Times, which is published Monday to Saturday. The Sunday Times has acquired a reputation for the strength of its investigative reporting – much of it by its award-winning Insight team – and also for its wide-ranging foreign coverage. It has a number of popular writers, columnists and commentators including Jeremy Clarkson and Bryan Appleyard. A. A. Gill was a prominent columnist for many years. It was Britain's first multi-section newspaper and remains substantially larger than its rivals. A typical edition contains the equivalent of 450 to 500 tabloid pages. Besides the main news section, it has standalone News Review, Business, Sport, Money and Appointments sections – all broadsheet. There are three magazines (The Sunday Times Magazine, Culture, and Style) and two tabloid supplements (Travel and Home). It has a website and separate digital editions configured for both the iOS operating system for the Apple iPad and the Android operating system for such devices as the Google Nexus, all of which offer video clips, extra features and multimedia and other material not found in the printed version of the newspaper. The paper publishes The Sunday Times Rich List, an annual survey of the wealthiest people in Britain and Ireland, equivalent to the Forbes 400 list in the United States, and a series of league tables with reviews of private British companies, in particular The Sunday Times Fast Track 100. The paper also produces an annual league table of the best-performing state and independent schools at both junior and senior level across the United Kingdom, entitled Parent Power (with additional information available online), and an annual league table of British universities and a similar one for Irish universities. It publishes The Sunday Times Bestseller List of books in Britain, and a list of the "100 Best Companies to Work For", focusing on UK companies. It also organises The Sunday Times Oxford Literary Festival, held annually, and The Sunday Times Festival of Education, which takes place every year at Wellington College.

Statement from United Ummah regarding false allegations made by Sunday Times

00:15
On 18th December 2011, Sunday Times corresponent Dipesh Gadher released a baseless article scandalously linking the recently proscribed organisation Muslims Against Crusades with United Ummah. In a deliberate, adhoc and unsubstantiated slur, the anti-Muslim tabloid in broadsheet clothing single handedly levied highly damaging allegations against what is essentially nothing more than a You Tube channel. As was witnessed on 2nd December 2011, 22 ordinary Muslims sporting nothing more than traditional Islamic attire were kettled in and brutally arrested on suspicion of being members of a banned organisation i.e. Muslims Against Crusades and it is precisely false articles such as this which lead to underhand government tactics being brushed under the carpet. Despite this statement having little impact on News International's pro-Cameron media team from continuing in their smear campaign against our 'You Tube channel', we would still like to reiterate that we are in no way associated to any other groups or organisations, and that any allegations suggesting the contrary should be scrunched up and thrown in the dustbin. ELF Award 2016: Jonathan Leake and the Sunday Times

00:35
In 2016, the ELF Award was presented to The Sunday Times and the publication's Environment Editor Johnathan Leake. In 2015, the UK-based newspaper launched a clean air campaign. The campaign called for: Better monitoring of air pollution Easier access to information about pollution levels and More action to curb pollution Alongside the supporting articles and range of topics covered, the campaign was also the first to expose the discrepancy between the emissions that the manufacturers of diesel cars claim are produced and what they actually produce on the road (which happened before the Volkswagen "defeat device" scandal broke). The theme of the Healthy Lungs for Life campaign (HLFL) 2016/2017 is clean air, and many activities will be carried out over the course of the ERS International Congress in London 2016. Sunday Times Reporter Admits To Parroting UK Government Narrative On CNN

04:19
Tom states @1:50 "we publish the position of the British government". One of the journalists of the Sunday Times who wrote the story “British Spies Betrayed to Russians and Chinese”, Tom Harper, gave an interview to CNN which is quite incredible to watch. Harper just keeps repeating that he doesn’t know what’s actually true, and that he was just saying what the government told him — more or less admitting that his role here was not as a reporter, but as a propagandist or a stenographer. Sunday Laws Are Imminent!

22:41
Sunday Laws (the mark of the Roman Catholic Beast) are imminent. That which the President of the SDA Church has said to be afar off, is indeed near. It is time to get ready for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. It is time to pray daily, dig deep into the Word of God, reading it, studying it, and listening to it. It is time to work hard for the salvation of lost souls. The time which many might have thought is afar off, is indeed nearer than we may know. Please share this video with as many people as possible. Ezekiel 12:27-28  Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth is for many days to come, and he prophesieth of the times that are far off.  28  Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord GOD. The Cost of Netanyahu Admitting Israeli Strikes in Syria

02:21
NEWS DESK | Israel is known to be relatively quiet on military actions in Syria. This is part of a general policy of ambiguity, but on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu elaborated on the generally taboo subject — on two separate occasions. Why did he decide to make these statements, and is there a cost to such a reveal? Our Daniel Tsemach has the story. Story: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu broadcasted on several occasions on Sunday the profuse Israeli attacks on Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria, including those over the weekend on a warehouse at Damascus international airport purportedly storing Iranian weapons. 'The [Israel Defense Forces] has on hundreds of occasions attacked targets of Iran and Hezbollah,' Netanyahu said at the opening of his weekly cabinet meeting. 'Just in the last 36 hours did the [Israel Air Force] attack Iranian warehouses with Iranian weapons at the international airport in Damascus,' the premier added, referring to the attacks Friday night reported by Syrian media. Israel gave no initial comment on Friday’s reported strikes, but has previously acknowledged carrying out hundreds of attacks in Syria over the years against what it says are Iranian military targets and advanced arms deliveries to Hezbollah. A number of Israeli cabinet ministers reportedly were dismayed with Netanyahu’s choice of publicly commenting on such strikes against traditional policy, calling it 'dangerous' and warning that it could provoke both Russia and Syria. Nevertheless in an interview with the New York Times published over the weekend ahead of his retirement Tuesday, Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot took the opportunity to describe his decision to take on Iran in 2016, elaborating that Israel struck its targets in Syria more than 1,000 times since then. At a farewell ceremony Sunday evening to the departing chief of staff, Netanyahu commended him for Israel’s achievements in undermining Iranian activity in Syria. 'We stop things at the root. That was because of you Gadi. Many hundreds of times,' Netanyahu declared referring to preemptively striking Iranian targets in Syria. He listed the army’s accomplishments under Eisenkot of various related objectives that included subverting the nuclear deal with Iran and thwarting Hezbollah’s growing precision missile arsenal, which he claimed went from thousands to a few dozen. For his part at the ceremony, Eisenkot highlighted the importance of cooperating with the Palestinian Authority security forces, saying that even over the weekend they helped thwart Hamas terror attacks. Also on Sunday Netanyahu visited up north at Israel Defense Forces Galilee Division near the Lebanese border, where he emphasized Israel’s 'determination to prevent Iran from entrenching itself in Syria.' 'If necessary, we will step up these attacks,' he added. The premier claimed that a 'a very serious threat was averted' that would have surrounded Israel’s northern communities had Hezbollah’s tunnel operation succeeded along with continued Iranian entrenchment in Syria. 'Everyone understands how the war would look if Hezbollah battalions were in the Galilee, and with the Iranian army opposite the Golan Heights. We have prevented this — and will continue to prevent it,' Netanyahu said in response to a question whether Israel’s northern residents could sleep peacefully. The family of five live in the stunning 20-room home that has a view of Hyde Park. Pippa Middleton married hedge-fund multi-millionaire James Matthews and the couple recently spent £1.2million renovating their five-storey London mansion, which already boasted a gym, an underground cinema, a lift, a 'staff room' as well as six bedrooms.  RELATED ARTICLES Previous 1 Next Prince Harry went 'mental' and 'accused William of trying to... The Terrible Truth About the UN Migration Compact

01:17:13
In December 2018, world leaders gather to sign the UN Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration - a disaster for Western countries which virtually eliminates property rights and free speech, enshrining the right for everyone to enter Western countries and live off the taxpayer. Global Compact The Global Compact for Migration is the first-ever UN global agreement on a common approach to international migration in all its dimensions. The global compact is non-legally binding. It is grounded in values of state sovereignty, responsibility-sharing, non-discrimination, and human rights, and recognizes that a cooperative approach is needed to optimize the overall benefits of migration, while addressing its risks and challenges for individuals and communities in countries of origin, transit and destination. The global compact comprises 23 objectives for better managing migration at local, national, regional and global levels. The compact: aims to mitigate the adverse drivers and structural factors that hinder people from building and maintaining sustainable livelihoods in their countries of origin; intends to reduce the risks and vulnerabilities migrants face at different stages of migration by respecting, protecting and fulfilling their human rights and providing them with care and assistance; seeks to address the legitimate concerns of states and communities, while recognizing that societies are undergoing demographic, economic, social and environmental changes at different scales that may have implications for and result from migration; strives to create conducive conditions that enable all migrants to enrich our societies through their human, economic and social capacities, and thus facilitate their contributions to sustainable development at the local, national, regional and global levels... ▶️ Donate Now: http://www.freedomainradio.com/donate ▶️ Sign Up For Our Newsletter: http://www.fdrurl.com/newsletter Your support is essential to Freedomain Radio, which is 100% funded by viewers like you. 1993 CBS Sunday Movie Promo (A Family of Strangers)

(c)1993 CBS Corporation Promo for the movie "A Family of Strangers"; starring Melissa Gilbert as a young woman needing brain surgery following a blackout, then learns she was adopted by her adoptive father (played by William Shatner) and subsequently searching for her birth mother (Patty Duke). I was looking for info on the movie and stumbled across a Los Angeles Times article in which Melissa Gilbert was interviewed, and she commented how much of a parallel there was between the character and her life. http://articles.latimes.com/1993-02-21/news/tv-556_1_melissa-gilbert
