The Utilization of Western NGOs for the Theft of Africa's Vast Resources

04:23
The following in an excerpt from a lecture given by Mallence Bart Williams in 2015 (TEDxBerlin). "One thing that keeps me puzzled, despite having studied finance and economics at the world’s best universities, the following question remains unanswered. Why is it that 5,000 units of our currency is worth one unit of your currency where we are the ones with the actual gold reserves? It’s quite evident that the aid is in fact not coming from the West to Africa but from Africa to the Western world. The Western world depends on Africa in every possible way since alternative resources are scarce out here. So how does the West ensure that the free aid keeps coming? By systematically destabilizing the wealthiest African nations and their systems, and all that backed by huge PR campaigns -- leaving the entire world under the impression that Africa is poor and dying and merely surviving on the mercy of the West. Well done Oxfam, UNICEF, Red Cross, Live Aid, and all the other organizations that continuously run multi-million-dollar advertisement campaigns depicting charity porn to sustain that image of Africa globally. Ad campaigns paid for by innocent people under the impression to help, with their donations. While one hand gives under the flashing lights of cameras, the other takes in the shadows. We all know the dollar is worthless, while the Euro is merely charged with German intellect and technology and maybe some Italian pasta. How can one expect donations from nations that have so little? How super sweet of you to come with your colored paper in exchange for our gold and diamonds. But instead you should come empty-handed, filled with integrity and honor. I want to share with you our wealth and invite you to share with us. The perception is that a healthy and striving Africa would not disperse its resources as freely and cheaply, which is logical. Of course, it would instead sell its resources at world market prices, which in turn would destabilize and weaken Western economies established on the post-colonial free-meal system. Last year the IMF reports that six out of 10 of the world's fastest-growing economies are in Africa, measured by their GDP growth. The French Treasury, for example, is receiving about 500 billion dollars year in year out, in foreign exchange reserves from African countries based on Colonial Debt they force them to pay. Former French President Jacques Chirac stated in an interview recently that we have to be honest and acknowledge that a big part of the money in our banks comes precisely from the exploitation of the African continent. In 2008 he stated that without Africa, France will slide down in the rank of a third-world power. This is what happens in the human world. The world we have created. Have you ever wondered how things work in nature? One would assume that in evolution, the fittest survives. However in nature any species that is overhunting, over-exploiting the resources they depend on as nourishment, natural selection would sooner or later take the predator out, because it upsets the balance." Fragile States, Better Security and Management of Natural Resources | Paul Collier | TEDxOxford

19:23
While people in many developing countries are beginning to reduce gap with the West, people in fragile states are not. One reason is a lack of security. In countries like Mali and the CAR, only last-minute French intervention stabilised extremely dangerous situations, while the US Rapid Reaction Force sat in Stuttgart. We must end flip-flops of policy over intervention. Europe should take a long-term and consistent approach to building African capacity to intervene before security crises get out of hand. Natural resource extraction often fails to benefit the country with the resources. Resource extraction companies should be seen as custodians (much like banks). Key steps needed are: more transparency, on which there is some progress; more effective taxation, requiring better international rules and provision of qualified staff; and stronger action on corruption through making it harder to hide payments – including an international standard on public disclosure of beneficial ownership. Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government and a Professorial Fellow of St Antony’s College. He took Public Service leave when he was Director of the Research Development Department of the World Bank. Currently a Professeur invité at Sciences Po and a Director of the International Growth Centre. His research covers the causes and consequences of civil war; the effects of aid and problems of democracy in low-income and natural resources rich societies; urbanization in low-income countries; private investment in African infrastructure and changing organizational cultures. Books include The Bottom Billion (2007) which in 2008 won the Lionel Gelber, Arthur Ross and Corine prizes and in 2009 was joint winner of the Estoril Global Issues Distinguished Book prize. His latest book is Exodus: How migration is changing our world (2013) In 2014, Paul received a knighthood for promoting research and policy change in Africa. Price Ceilings: Misallocation of Resources

11:49
Suppose there is a mild winter on the West Coast and a harsh winter on the East Coast. As a result of the weather, people on East Coast will demand more home heating oil, bidding up the price. Under the price system, entrepreneurs will be incentivized to take oil from where it has lower value on West Coast to where it has higher value on the East Coast. But when price controls are in place, even though the demand is still there from the East Coast, there is no signal of a higher price, eliminating the incentive for entrepreneurs to transport oil from west to east. In fact, this happened in the 1970s, resulting in oil going to lower valued uses on the West Coast while many people on the East Coast didn’t have enough oil to heat their homes. In this video, we’ll look at a diagram to visualize this misallocation of resources. Oklo Resources adding to and advancing portfolio of West Mali gold projects

09:02
Oklo Resources Ltd (ASX:OKU) managing director and chief executive Simon Taylor speaks to Proactive Investors about the team and strategy propelling the Mali-focused gold explorer. "Big landholding, fantastic jurisdiction, really good team to implement the projects, and I think the other key part of our story is our backers - we've got a fantastic share register," summarises Taylor. At the flagship Dandoko Project in West Mali, a 50,000 metre drill program centred on five anomalies at the Seko prospect is coming to a close. A number of results have already been released showing high-grade oxide and primary gold intersections, with more drilling and test work results due to be announced in the coming weeks and months. The company is leveraged to the prolific greenstone belts of Western Mali, with four other projects in the same region as Dandoko, including the recently-acquired Kouroufing and Kandiole Sud assets. Early exploration work is underway at Kouroufing, and results from that will add to the news flows expected over the coming months as field work stops for the rainy season.

Could Arctic Resources Ignite a War?

Arctic Cold War (2007): The Arctic's melting ice has opened up the area's vast natural resources to the Arctic powers, which could result in tensions leading to war For downloads and more information visit http://journeyman.tv/57670/short-films/arctic-cold-war.html According to a new report, global warming is likely to trigger a dangerous contest between Russia and the West for the Arctic's vast mineral resources. As the Arctic warms up; "major corporations are waking up to the fact there is going to be tremendous economic opportunity", explains Prof Huebert. Canada, Russia, Denmark and Norway all have claims to the Arctic seabed, where vast mineral reserves are thought to lie. There's concern that this scramble for resources could spiral out of control. "The worst case scenario is one of a regional area where hostilities are the norm and co-operation the exception", warns Huebert. The Heat: China and the West in Africa

27:54
The needs in Africa are many. Among them: infrastructure, jobs and trade. Critics said the West has neglected the continent, either dismissing it as hopelessly mismanaged, or simply engaging for its resources or security and defense advantages. Enter China – From a low of $10 billion in 2000, Beijing’s trade with Africa reached $220 billion just 14 years later, making it the continent’s largest trading partner.
