Our actions reveal what we desire, how we shop, and why we buy. Retailers can now learn so much more about shopper behavior than ever before, and while these “big data” applications create concerns about privacy, the detailed data can be used to design stores, product offerings and promotions that connect with our interests, speed up the shopping process, and help us find items we will buy. These new tools are critical to improving store efficiency and shoppability; and offer a vision of the future of retailing. Raymond R. Burke (Bloomington, IN USA) is the E.W. Kelley Professor of Business Administration at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, and founding director of the School’s Customer Interface Laboratory, a state-of-the-art facility for investigating how customers interact with new retail environments and technologies. His research focuses on understanding the influence of point-of-purchase factors–including new products, product packaging, pricing, promotions, assortments, and displays–on consumer shopping behavior. Dr. Burke has served on the faculties of the Harvard Business School and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. His articles have appeared in several major journals, including the Harvard Business Review, the Journal of Consumer Research, the Journal of Marketing, and Marketing Science. This one's from Abul, "Neil Patel I have a Shopify store. "But I don't know which things "I should write a blog, "and which things I should make videos?" But really, I think everyone wants your opinion on Shopify in general. Let's discuss how to grow your Shopify store using content marketing. The question is really about video or text-based content. The answer: What are you comfortable with? For example, Adam here prefers video. For me, I'm better at content marketing than video. I'm doing okay with video. But I've been doing content marketing for over ten years. I'm getting better and better at video, but I started with content marketing. I have way more experience. In general, you want to look at what you think you're naturally better at and focus on that. It could be video. It could be audio. It could be text-based content marketing. You pick. It could even be visual infographics. With your Shopify store, ideally, most of you guys are like, "Oh, what kind of products should we sell? "How many?" You should start off with one product. You don't need tons and tons of products to do well on Shopify. Start off with one. I'm not saying you can't add more products later on. You want upsells and down sells. A lot of people us Zipify. That will help get you more upsells when you already have products. If you're selling insoles for high heels, your upsell could be to buy three of them at a discount. The point is to start with one product, focus on it and create your blog and content marketing around that one product. Go to buzzsumo.com. Type in keywords within your industry. You'll see what's hot. But instead of just creating text-based content. Try to create infographics. You can go to Dribbble, dribbble.com or 99designs. There you can find people to create infographics for a few hundred dollars. Maybe even $50 depending on the country. Create these infographics then go to buzzsumo.com, find out all the people who wrote similar content. You're now creating visual content. Instead of the text-based. You're hitting up all the people who shared that text-based content by clicking up view shares on Buzzsumo. It gives you a list. Do the same thing with Ahrefs. You go to Ahrefs. You put in the original article. You see who links to it. Then you contact them and say: "Hey Adam, I noticed you linked to this article that breaks down what happens to your feet after you walk in high heels for a year. I created a similar article, but mine's visual in an infographic format. Feel free, to check it out here. If you think your audience will love it, feel free embed it within your article." If you don't know how to embed your infographic, there are plugins that allow you to embed it with ease. I don't know what plugins work for Shopify. I know for Wordpress I use WP's Embed Code Generator. You do that, people embed it, and you'll get more links and social shares. In general, you should also get more E-commerce sales. 4 Local SEO marketing strategies to build your brick and mortar business. If your a local business and want more customers and foot traffic, but are tired of spending money on ads or billboards let me show you how to get free traffic using these local SEO marketing strategies to rank on Google and get more customers! You've got a localized business. Why aren't you ranking on Google? Why aren't you optimizing it for search engines? You can. Today I'm going to share with you how to do local SEO for brick and mortar businesses. The first thing you need to know about is Google My Business. Google My Business allows you to submit your localized business to Google, where you're putting in your company name, your address, your phone number. Once you're listed in there, you can rank in the localized pack. The localized box is whenever you search for, let's say, a pizza restaurant on your mobile phone, you're getting all these localized listings. That's a localized pack. And you want to be in there because if you're in there, you're going to get more business. The next thing you want to do for local SEO is get the reviews. When you get reviews, you're going to rank higher. So the more people that say you're amazing and that you have a good product or service, the better off you're going to be. So within your storefront, tell people, "Hey, rate us on Google. "Leave a review. "Leave a rating." And you'll find a lot of people will. Everyone these days is focusing on Yelp reviews. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with Yelp, but why not also focus on Google? Because that allows you to rank higher. The next thing you want to do is make sure you include your address, the name of your business, and the phone number on your contact page. By doing that, when people are searching localized queries, you're much more likely to pop up. The next tip for local SEO is if your website is running on WordPress, use the Yoast SEO plugin. It'll optimize your website without you even being technical. You don't need to pay an agency thousands of dollars. You don't have to pay a marketing agency. If you're a localized mom and pop business, just go out there, use the Yoast SEO plugin on your WordPress site, and it'll pretty much optimize most of the things you need to do. If you're not running WordPress, then that's fine. You can just go in there, address your title tags to include your keywords, your meta description to include your keywords and make sure you include the keywords you're going after within the text or pages of your website. If you don't have the keywords, how will Google know what to rank you about? Then you want to create more content. So if you're a pizza shop and you want to boost your local SEO, you want to write content about pizza, how to make amazing pizzas, how to make them taste better, how to cook them, all this kind of stuff. I understand you're not in the business of teaching people how to make pizza, but by writing all this content about pizza and flavors and if it goes with wine or it doesn't and all these kind of articles, you're more likely to rank for all the pizza terms within your city. And last but not least, to build your local SEO sign up for Google Search Console. Within Google Search Console, you can find out what issues Google has to your site, what errors they're finding. You can submit your sitemap. If you don't have a sitemap, just go and create an XML sitemap. If you Google for it, there's a lot of free tools out there that create sitemaps for you. And you can specify which location your business is doing business as. You can pick which region, especially if you're a national business or you're focusing on the United States, because sometimes you're localized, and you have a small mom and pop stores all over the United States. And you can do that within Google Search Console, in which you can identify which region you're going after. Here's how to make it happen. Whether these are for dinner, lunch or breakfast. What draws us to most recipes isn't the ingredients themselves but the appearance of the food and how appetizing it looks in the pictures. So, in this video, we are sharing with you some eye-opening commercial manipulations that will both anger and amaze you. We show you some tricky ways that restaurants use in order to drive more customers in with their delicious looking food. In addition to those, we show you some amazing cooking tips that you'll find extremely useful. We show you how to remove the color from strawberries as well as a delicious vegan recipe on how to make caviar. Have you ever wondered why cakes look so tall and well-put-together in pictures but in reality, they look completely different? Well, the secret is a few layers on cardboard boxes. You see, because the cream contained in the cake is so light, it gets pressed by the sponge cake on top. So, commercial and marketing companies found the perfect way to manipulate it by adding pieces of cardboard in between the cake layers where the cake should be. After that, they conceal the cardboard with shaving cream and they create beautiful looking non-cakes. It would take ages for most fast food restaurants to create a burger that completely represents the one shown in the commercial because the burger they put together to photograph is far from reality. They first toast the bun, and then they try to slowly add the cooked burger on top of the bun, they warm up a barbeque needle to toast the top of the burger and show that it was grilled. The add two slices of cheese and lettuce to make it look thick, and then to keep them all in place they add toothpicks. They then add the tomatoes on top and finally the top bun barely touching the tomatoes to make it look like it's filled with ingredients! If you've ever wondered why all fast food fries come all crumbled up in the paper box while the ones in commercials look so pretty standing all up facing upwards - then the answer is a piece of sponge. In order to make the fries look appetizing. They take a sponge and add toothpicks all over it. Then they pierce the fried by putting them on top of the sponge and then they transfer it into the takeaway container. Traditional VS Digital Marketing The first thing to do is understand the difference between traditional, and digital marketing. Traditional marketing relies on tools and mediums like the newspaper, radio, TV, magazine, billboards, direct mail, and any form of print really. Digital on the other hand is made up of tools like search engine marketing, social media, content marketing like blogging, articles, or video creation, email marketing, and online pay per clicks advertising. When you’re talking about traditional versus digital marketing, you’re talking about the tools more than the strategy behind them. And more accurately, you’re talking about which form of media you’re going to use to communicate your message on, a traditional one, or a digital one? Alot of people start off with pay per click and lose their wallet very quickly. I would suggest write articles, find forums that talk about your niche. Get involved. Track everything so you know where you traffic is coming from. Also get a blog up online. You can get a free blog now at Google and word press.com. Any articles you write online, put them up on your blog. Basically what I'm saying is that there there are more games in town than pay per click. The more different streams of traffic you have in your business, the more stable your business will become. Don't put your eggs all in one basket online. Learn one form of traffic generation until it becomes profitable, then, move on to the next. But we do it. We've created an "assembly line" to crank out high-quality content. Here's a summary of how it works. When you have to create a lot of content, there are multiple people involved. One content creator can probably write about three or four pieces of content at most per week. So you need to hire 20, 30 writers to generate the amount of high-quality content that you're looking for. How do you make this process fool-proof? You come up with a topic. Then you assign it to the writer, and the writer writes it, outlines it, and after he outlines it, you have to approve it and edit it. Then you send it back for revisions. After they write it, you have to approve it, and maybe they'll make some additional edits. We never hire full-time writers because we know the moment you hire a full-time writer, production max output plummets. They start thinking of it as a nine-to-five. They work from nine to five. A lot of times, I notice that people, at least for myself, I'm more productive if I set my hours. Because I know when I'm productive. I'm least productive between 2:00 to 4:00 PM because I get drowsy. Let's say in the afternoon; I'm not productive. Instead of me sitting there for three hours trying to pretend like I'm working, what's more efficient? Take a nap. That is how writers work. That's how they're creative. But for people who are creative, who are developers, designers, writers - odd hours work best. So naturally, it doesn't work when you hire full-time writers when you work nine to five when interruptions are happening the most. We find all our writers from jobs.problogger.com. Another good way to find good writers is to look at writers who have their authorship on other sites and just contact them. Contact writers that you like so when they write content you-you they can also promote it to their following and then it just goes so much more viral. If you hire writers who are already popular and have a following, whatever they write, they're going to do the marketing for you. So, even if you're paying 20 cents a word, it's a lot cheaper than hiring cheaper writers because these guys also do all the marketing. So, you don't have to pay for the Facebook ads or any other marketing. We use Trello to manage our writers and keep it simple by just creating columns. Every person is responsible for a column. Your job is to make sure whatever is under your column, gets moved to the next. Then it's the other person's job to clear the column. You cannot mess that up. It's straightforward, and it's scalable. As I said, if we want to produce a thousand pieces of content a week, we could. We already produce hundreds and hundreds. It's not that much harder to scale.
