DM plant demineralize system by ion exchange resins
DM Plant – De Mineralize, works on ion exchange process, we use ion exchange resins for this process. DM reduces electrical conductivity by removing minerals like calcium, magnesium, Sodium, potassium, chlorides, nitrates, sulphates and silica from water. There are three stages in DM Plant, Cation Column, Anion Column and Mixed Bed Column. Cation and Anion Columns are called Two Bed DM Plant. Mixed Bed Column is called Mixed Bed DM Plant. Two bed DM Plant brings down electrical conductivity to less than 30 micron Siemens and the ph would be in between 8 to 10. Mixed bed DM Plant works as polisher. The output water of Mixed is called pure water, it contains less than 1 micro Siemens electrical conductivity and ph will neutral (6.8 to 7.2). We have two companies in India, who manufactures ion exchange resins. One is Ion exchange India, other is Thermax. We manufacture, DM Plant in FRP Body and MSRL(Mild Steel Rubber Lined). We have portable DM Plants, and Industrial DM Plants. We provide Online Conductivity and Ph meters along with DM Plant to monitor water quality. Hydrochloric Acid (hcl) is used to regenerate cation ion exchange Resin. Sodium hydroxide (i.e Caustic soda flakes) used to regenerate anion exchange resin. Demineralisation process - Deionization Ion exchange process
Demineralized Water also known as Deionized Water, Water that has had its mineral ions removed. Mineral ions such as cations of sodium, calcium, iron, copper, etc and anions such as chloride, sulphate, nitrate, etc are common ions present in Water. Deionization is a physical process which uses specially-manufactured ion exchange resins which provides ion exchange site for the replacement of the mineral salts in Water with Water forming H+ and OH- ions. Ion exchange is an exchange of ions between two electrolytes or between an electrolyte solution and a complex. In most cases the term is used to denote the processes of purification, separation, and decontamination of aqueous and other ion-containing solutions with solid polymeric or mineralic "ion exchangers".

Ion exchange chromatogram This lecture explains about the instrumentation, principle of Ion exchange Chromatography. Ion chromatography is a chromatography process that separates ions and polar molecules based on their affinity to the ion exchanger. It works on almost any kind of charged molecule—including large proteins, small nucleotides, and amino acids. However, ion chromatography must be done in conditions that are one unit away from the isoelectric point of a protein.The two types of ion chromatography are anion-exchange and cation-exchange. Cation-exchange chromatography is used when the molecule of interest is positively charged. The molecule is positively charged because the pH for chromatography is less than the pI. In this type of chromatography, the stationary phase is negatively charged and positively charged molecules are loaded to be attracted to it. Anion-exchange chromatography is when the stationary phase is positively charged and negatively charged molecules (meaning that pH for chromatography is greater than the pI) are loaded to be attracted to it.It is often used in protein purification, water analysis, and quality control. The water-soluble and charged molecules such as proteins, amino acids, and peptides bind to moieties which are oppositely charged by forming ionic bonds to the insoluble stationary phase.The equilibrated stationary phase consists of an ionizable functional group where the targeted molecules of a mixture to be separated and quantified can bind while passing through the column—a cationic stationary phase is used to separate anions and an anionic stationary phase is used to separate cations. Cation exchange chromatography is used when the desired molecules to separate are cations and anion exchange chromatography is used to separate anions.
