Greetings from Mithi, welcome to a series of self learning videos on understanding and using Vaultastic, the easiest and the most secure email archiving solution yet. In this video we will learn how to set a recipient for NDR. This video explains the steps required to setup a recipient for non-deliverable journal reports.
If you are configuring journal rules for the first time, you need to specify the alternate journaling recepient for undeliverable journal reports. If a journal report can't be delivered to the journaling mailbox specified in the journal rule, it is queued in exchange online for some time.
Let's see the steps to set up the recipient to receive non-delivery reports or NDR's. Before setting up a recipient for NDR, make sure that you have provisioned all the required users on the corresponding Vaultastic domain.
If a user is not present on Vaultastic, email messages sent from or received to that user will not be archived on Vaultastic. Make sure that you have configured a SMTP mail route to Office 365 to route mail to Vaultastic.
First, log on to the domain on the Office 365 portal. Click on the admin title. From the left pane, click on the admin center drop-down. Click on the exchange option. From the left pane, choose the compliance management option. Here you can see different options that are available to us, select the journal rules tab. Click select address to specify NDR email recipient.
To specify NDR email recipient on Office 365 domain, click on the browse option. You can see the different mail IDs. Select a mail ID, click on the OK option. Click on the save option. A warning message will display on the screen. Click on the OK option. It says NDR ID will be excluded from journaling and other mail transport rules, so it is recommended to assign a dedicated ID as recipient of NDR. Click OK to acknowledge the message.
Thank you for watching the video, in the next step you will learn to configure journal rule for all users of your domain posted on Office 365. For more videos on cloud email archiving, subscribe to our YouTube channel, Vaultastic.
