WHAT TO DO AFTER COLLEGE

04:41
Confused about life after college? Don't know what to do after graduation? If you are 22 years old, regardless if you’re graduating from college or not, there are two things you should keep in mind. The first is to acknowledge that you are entering some of the greatest years of your life. The second is that this is the moment when you don’t go practical—don’t take the “safe” route. This is NOT the time to get the job Mom always wanted you to get. This is NOT the time to try to maximize as much money as you can make so you can save up to buy a sick ride. This IS the time, however, to realize that you have a five-year window (three for some, eight for others) for you to attack the life that you want to win. 7 HIGHEST Paying College Degrees! Subscribe: http://bit.ly/28Q6Q4t Twitter: http://bit.ly/28Y8bWd Facebook: http://bit.ly/28UFLQS http://patreon.com/FlipMill NUMBER 1 As a finance major, you’ll be working with a lot of other people’s money; and it’s no surprise that some of that money would fall into your pocket. You’ll get a better start in your finance career if you do a few internships in your field. Once you do, you can expect to earn about $46,500 to start and $87,300 at mid-level. NUMBER 2 Economics is another college degree that leaves you with tons of career options, from banking to finance to education and government. If none of those interests you, you can also land jobs in law (with further education), consulting, public policy and research. Starting salary for those majoring in economics is around $45,000 but by mid career, you see a hefty boost to around $95,000. NUMBER 3 Before you immediately pass over math as a major, think about this: those who major in math have some of the lowest unemployment rates of any other major — 95% of math majors are employed. They are also quite well compensated for their work, with a starting salary of around $47,000-$52,600 and a mid-career salary of $89,900-$98,600. NUMBER 4 If you haven’t noticed it yet, it pays to be very good with numbers. Statistics majors will be tasked with tracking large amounts of data, analyzing it, and focusing down on the results. You’ll need serious skills with spreadsheets and even some programming ability for this career. A statistician can pull in about $50,000 right out of school and about $99,000 by mid-career. NUMBER 5 Do you want to work for a company like Apple or Microsoft and help program the next big thing in computers? Well, they want to pay you a lot to do it. Major in computer science and do well in school, including doing some internships and projects, and you’ll probably land a job that starts out paying around $55,000. Stick with it and you could be making 6 figures by mid-career. NUMBER 6 Physics is another one of those college degrees that makes most of our brains hurt even thinking about pursuing, but if you can wrap your mind around it, you will be glad you did. Physics majors have a lot of options, working in museums, the military, laboratories and schools. They are also paid very well for understanding the way the universe works. Right out the gate they are paid nearly $50,000 and by mid career, they are making just over $100,000. NUMBER 7 If you are simply looking for a job that pays the biggest bucks, you can’t go wrong in pursuing a college degree in engineering. In fact, seven of the top highest paying college majors are various engineering majors, like petroleum, chemical, electrical, materials science and aerospace; so you have a large range of options which fits you best. Depending on which field you choose, you can start out getting paid between $50,000-$95,000, and by mid career, you be up to $85,000-$155,000. WOW! And here's me having majored in Drama!

What Recent College Graduates Earn

Dr. Mark Schneider, a vice president at AIR, discusses his work on the earning power of first-year graduates from colleges and universities. In general, the findings show that students' schools and majors can make a big difference in what they earn. He is working with six states to examine the average first-year earnings of recent graduates in each state. The findings compare not only the average earnings of graduates from two-year and four-year institutions, but identify earnings by degree program at each institution. Dr. Schneider serves as president of College Measures, a nonpartisan organization that provides data and analysis on higher education. It is a joint venture of AIR and the Matrix Knowledge Group. Is College Worth It - Do College Dropouts Make More Money Than Graduates

11:02
Is college worth it? That is the question that I want to answer in this video. So many people assume that college is a must, but I go into more detail about whether or not college is worth it or not. ----- FREE Ebooks ----- Beginners Guide To Passive Income - http://homemadeentrepreneurs.com/passive-income-guide/ 10 Lessons I learned While Building My Million Dollar Business - http://homemadeentrepreneurs.com/10-lessons-learned/ In my opinion deciding whether or not college is worth it is completely up to you. It all depends on your current situation and where you plan on going with a college degree. Most people who do attend a college or university don't get the most out of their time there, so in that case it is a waste of time. Something that I highly recommend to you is to list out all the pros and cons, figure out how much you should make if you don't attend college and if you do go, then figure out how long it will take to get the degree that you need. Once you do all of this and lay it all out in the open you should be able to decide for yourself whether or not college is worth it to you. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ What Is The Homemade Entrepreneur? The Biggest (Career) Mistake Recent Grads Make After College

My mission is to educate young people on everyday life skills that aren't taught in school, yet are critical in leading happy, successful lives. Sound Effects: http://www.freesfx.co.uk TRANSCRIPT Hey guys, happy Wednesday. If you’re new here and you don’t know me, I’m Shaina. I encourage you to introduce yourself in the comment box below and I’ll be sure to respond and we can chat…it’ll be great. Today, in lieu of this time of year, graduation season, I wanted to share what I think is the biggest mistake that recent graduates make. I just wanted to throw it at you, and hopefully you catch it, and keep it in your back pocket as you move through the next chapter of your life... OPENING OK, so the #1 mistake that recent graduates make is….drum roll…they chase after money! Most of us spend 4 years in college, completely broke…so when we get out, we think OK, I have this degree, student loans to pay off, big plans to buy a nice car and a mansion, I’ve gotta prove my self worth to myself and other people through my paycheck and it’s go time baby. The mindset: I need to make money. I want to make a lot of money and fast…is what causes many graduates to take similar action. They immediately dive in to the work force and take a job because of it’s high pay or potential growth or any job that’s remotely related to their major and work their post college butts off. Now, I’m not saying you can’t reach your financial goals by doing this…but it’s a short-term fix at best. If you’re solely motivated by money, an external reward, and not intrinsically motivated, motivated by something that you love doing- that feels challenging and fun, it will catch up with you. In fact this is the reason a lot of twentysomethings and people in their 30s and beyond, are finding themselves in a quarter life crisis. They get burnt out by living for the future, they realize they don’t know what their passion is…and quickly find out that money doesn’t fill that void. It just doesn’t work that way guys. And as the millennials, we are the generation that is hardwired for seeking a purposeful career and life. So instead of letting the thought “I need to make money” drive the course of your life after graduation, I would like to propose a new mindset, one that changed my trajectory completely (and in the right direction) and that was “I need to make sense.” What I mean by that is: I need to make sense of my life. Where am I right now. What do I really want? What needs to change? What is my calling in life? And so fourth. The graduates who are taking the time to answer these important questions (and acting upon the answers), are the people who are setting themselves up for long-term happiness and success. Chasing after money is like swimming upstream against the current, at some point you’re going to get tired and feel like you’re about to drown. You may be thinking, “What about the money?” The question is not whether the money will come because it will, but as a byproduct of a much more fulfilling journey versus this constant grasping and uphill battle. The question is: are you willing to release the desire to make money from the forefront of your mind and instead make sense of your life? That’s it for today guys. 7 things to do before you graduate college | Liz Wessel | TEDxRutgers

13:44
As an young entrepreneur, Liz has learned a lot about maintaining a passion, building meaningful connections and growing a business - all in a relatively short time. She feels her pivotal point of growth was during her four years at college - in her passionate talk, she highlights seven things she believes each student should do before they graduate and how these actions will affect who they grow up to be. As a student at UPenn, Liz had observed peers who struggled to find relevant work during the school year. Later, as a Google employee, she saw that even the largest, most well-known companies struggle to find key hires. Liz wanted to fix this problem through tech. With smarter filtering and a focus on quality over quantity, the two sides of the marketplace would finally match up. So, 18 months ago, Liz quit her job at Google to start WayUp, recently named by CNN as one of the 30 most innovative companies changing the world in 2015, with her co-founder, JJ Fliegelman. Today, they’ve got 35+ employees and the site is currently getting 1 out of 3 users hired. Liz hopes that one day WayUp will land every student their first job. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Forget College, Learn a Trade

04:04
I got to thinking about what I would do differently if I could go back in time. Would I go to college or learn a trade? I went to 1 1/2 years of college before dropping out, and I think that was the right decision. There seems to be a growing number of college graduates with no jobs and plenty of student loan debt. Maybe more young people should consider learning a skilled trade like electric, plumbing, masonry, drywall, HVAC, etc. Just to be clear, I'm not saying college isn't a good choice. I'm saying it shouldn't be a default choice after high school. Where Can New Graduates Afford to Live in New York?

03:06
This is the time of year new college graduates find places to live on entry-level salaries. So what are the best options for new renters in the high-priced New York market? StreetEasy crunched the numbers to find the best options while also offering new graduates some advice. For starters, make sure you have some extracurricular funds so you can actually experience and enjoy New York City, StreetEasy spokeswoman Lauren Riefflin says. Don't spend your entire paycheck on rent. That's not so easy when you're just starting out. Lauren's advice? Don't spend more than 30 percent of your income on rent. How much money is that? StreetEasy looked at over 120 occupations in New York State. The median entry-level salary is about $48,000, according to Labor Department data. Sticking to the 30-percent rule, new grads making the median starting salary have about $1,200 a month to spend on rent. So where can they afford to live? The most inventory for around $1,200 is in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Bushwick, and Crown Heights in Brooklyn; Astoria in Queens; and Washington Heights in Manhattan, according to StreetEasy. We interviewed Lauren in Fulton Park in Bed-Stuy, the top neighborhood on the list. It has beautiful brownstones, easy subway access to Manhattan, and more than 1,300 apartments for rent on StreetEasy right now. The median asking rent in Bed-Stuy in April was about $2,300 for all bedroom sizes. Lauren says a studio or one-bedroom apartment would typically be cheaper and a two- or three-bedroom apartment would be potentially more expensive. But plenty of options fit within the $1,200 budget, especially if you take on a roommate or two. Bushwick is second on StreetEasy's list with some funky industrial loft-style rentals. But even if the apartment buildings look cool (as many in Bushwick do) remember your budget. And again, consider living with a few roommates. Besides having extracurricular funds to enjoy the city, a lot of graduates will have to start paying back their student loans and need to account for those payments, too. But recent graduates shouldn't feel limited by their budgets. They have plenty of housing options. If you like the idea of renting part of a brownstone, you'll find that in Bedford-Stuyvesant and Crown Heights. If you want a more traditional apartment, look at Astoria. If modern and industrial is your thing, check out Bushwick. And if you have to be on Manhattan Island, then Washington Heights is your option. What is StreetEasy's advice for anyone looking for an affordable place to rent or even buy? Follow the train lines. Often if you go just one or two stops beyond the hottest neighborhoods, you'll find more space and lower price tags, while still having a reasonable commute and easy access to the city. --ALISON MORRIS More info here: http://streeteasy.com/blog/college-grads-face-next-big-hurdle-cost-of-nyc-housing/

How to earn an EXTRA $100,000...By not going to College?

10:27
Lets talk about how you can earn an extra $100,000…by not going to college? Watch until the end for some out-takes and bloopers - enjoy! Add me on Snapchat/Instagram: GPStephan Learn how to start and grow your career as a Real Estate Agent to a Six-Figure Income, how to best build your network of clients, expand into luxury markets, and exactly what you can do to begin taking your career to the next level…these strategies took me to $120,000,000 in sales volume: https://goo.gl/UFpi4c Join the private Real Estate Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/therealestatemillionairemastermind/ Back to the video: Here are the numbers, and this is the math behind my calculations. There will always be extremes on either side, high school graduates making millions and college graduates working minimum wage…so I picked the average for everything: Average college degree: Average cost of a 4-year education: $56,840 Average amount of student debt - $37,172 Average interest rate - 4.8% Average income - $50,556 Average lifetime earning potential - $2,268,000 Average high school degree: Average high school Income: $35,256 pre tax Average lifetime earning potential: $1,304,000 This appears to be a difference of $964,000 earned over a lifetime between a high school and college graduate. With our average college graduate, they begin working at 22 years old earning $50,556. After taxes, that’ll be more like $42,000 per year. If they pay down their loan by $10,000 per year, by the age of 26, the loans are paid off entirely. Now after this, lets assume that now at the age of 27, the college graduate invests 25% of their net salary and invests it at an 8% return. We’ll average this at $15,000 per year overall - we can assume salaries will go up over time and investing remaining consistent. That’ll leave $3,569,118.32 in net worth by the age of 65 years old. But with the High School Graduate: They’re making just over $35,000 per year but no debt. Plus they can start working and investing immediately. Lets assume after taxes, they’re left with $30,000 per year and they invest the same 25% of their income, or $7500 per year. And lets assume this remains consistent over the course of their entire career. Even though they’re making an investing less, they have an extra 4 years of work and saving over the college graduate, while also having zero debt. Even though they’re earning and investing less, by the age of 65, they’re left with $3,668,491.23. That just happens to be $99,373 dollars MORE than the college graduate at the age of retirement. Lets then say the college graduate pays for college outright without any debt, and begins investing $15,000 per year from the age of 23 vs 27, so that’s an extra 4 years. Do that until the age of 65, you’ll now have $4,928,745.08. Just incurring debt early on, and postponing investing just a few years made a difference of nearly $1.3 MILLION dollars over the course of the career. That’s huge. Then lets also say that the high school graduate just invests the cost of a college degree at 18…actually, we’ll go even further to say he just invests the average college debt of $37,172 at the age of 18, then just invests $7500 per year after that by investing 25% of their income. By 65, that person will have 5,052,479.59….that’s a $123,734 difference in net worth at the age of retirement of 65 between a high school graduate and college graduate. That’s an extra $123,000…just by not going to college? Now of course, I’m making this video more so for entertainment purposes to run the numbers behind the real cost a college degree, and also to show that purely from a financial perspective, college doesn’t always make sense. In terms of wealth, it really boils down to is two things: 1. How long you invest your money for 2. How much of that you invest. It’s that simple.
