When it comes to Google Display Network Targeting Options, you have so many different ways to reach your audience and drive conversions. This tutorial will go through the beginning of the creation of a Google AdWords Display Advertising campaign and we focus on targeting methods. Google Analytics and Google Display When it comes to location targeting, geo targeting, demographic targeting, household income, age targeting, and gender targeting, you should use your Google Analytics data to drive your decisions. It doesn't make sense to target people who are less likely to convert, so focus on layering your targeting options to reach the best people. Audience targeting on the Google Display Network Demographics Targeting allows you to target your advertisements based on locations, ages, genders, and device types. Affinity Audience Targeting allows advertisers with TV type campaigns to extend a campaign online a reach an effective audience. These are large, broad audiences that might not drive direct conversions, but they are effective for expanding a campaign. In-market: Show ads to users who have been searching for products and services like yours. These users may be looking to make a purchase, or have previously made a purchase and could still be interested enough to interact with your ads. Custom intent: Choose words or phrases related to the people that are most likely to engage with your site and make purchases by using "custom intent audiences." In addition to keywords, custom intent audiences lets you add URLs for websites, apps, or YouTube content related to your audience's interests. Similar audiences: Expand your audience by targeting users with interests related to the users in your remarketing lists. These users aren't searching for your products or services directly, but their related interests may lead them to interacting with your ads. Remarketing: Target users that have already interacted with your ads, website, or app so that they'll see your ads more often. These users can be in any stage of conversion, as long as they've visited your site or clicked on your ad before. These users may even return to complete a purchase. In conclusion, Google Display Network targeting and content options don't have to be difficult to understand. This video will teach you how to get started with Conversion Tracking! Let’s get started! 00:18 Conversion tracking is a free AdWords tool that shows you what happens after a customer clicks on your ads -- whether they purchased your product, signed up for your newsletter or filled out a form to receive more information. 00:31 By tracking these actions, known as "conversions," you'll know which ads, keywords and campaigns bring you business. This helps you invest more wisely in the best ones and ultimately, boost your return on investment. 00:44 With Conversion Tracking you will be able to select exactly what you want to track: a purchase on your website, a form submission on your site, phone calls, or app downloads. 00:55 So how does this work exactly? You’ll add a small snippet of HTML and JavaScript code to your webpage--specifically the page your customers lands on after completing the conversion action, like the “Thank you” page after a purchase. When the user lands on this page, the conversion code will let AdWords know that the click on your ad led to this conversion. 1:15 So now we’re ready to set up Conversion Tracking! To get started, click “Tools” in the top navigation bar of your AdWords account and then select “Conversions” from the drop-down menu. 1:26 Click on the red +Conversion button to create your first conversion action. Next, select the type of conversion you’d like to track. 1:33 First, give this conversion action a specific name so that you can recognize this action later on in conversion reports. Click Done once you’ve done that. 1:43 Then, indicate how much each conversion is worth to your business. You can indicate that each conversion has the same value, varying values, or that you don’t want to assign a value for this particular action. 1:54 In the Conversion Windows section, you’ll indicate the number of days after the user clicks on your ad during which the conversion will be recorded. We recommend choosing a window related to the length of time you expect your ad to be relevant for the user or the amount of time it might take for a potential customer to convert and complete the conversion action. 2:13 The Category option allows you to select the category that best applies to a specific conversion. If you want to track website purchases, select “Purchase/Sale.” If tracking newsletter sign-ups, pick “Sign-Up.” Alternatively if your conversion doesn’t fall into one of the listed categories, select “Other.” 2:33 On the next page, you can access the specific snippet of code you’ll need to add to your site for this conversion action. From the gray box, you can send a direct email to yourself or your website developer which includes the code snippet and instructions for adding it to your website! 2:47 The code should be implemented between the body tags of the page the user visits after they complete the conversion action. And that’s it! Easy right? 2:56 Once the snippet of code has been added to the site, your conversions should begin tracking in your AdWords account. 3:01 Once your Tracking Status in the conversion section is set as “Recording Conversions,” you will be able to view conversion data in your account. On the Campaigns, Ad Groups, Ads, and Keywords tabs you can add columns with conversion data in order to monitor which campaigns, ads, and keywords are driving the most of these valuable conversions to your site! 3:21 To do this, click on the Columns button, select Modify Columns, then select “Conversions” in blue from the gray box. You can add columns that count the number of conversions and columns related to cost. 3:34 After setting up Conversion Tracking and acquiring data about your performance, you may want to consider using a bid feature called Enhanced CPC, which raises your bid for clicks that seem more likely to lead to a conversion on your website. That helps you get more value from your ad budget. The feature works by bidding up to 30% more in ad auctions that are more likely to lead to a conversion, so with Enhanced CPC you should see conversion results that are better than, or at least the same as, the results you get without it. 4:03 To use this feature, click on the Settings tab of your campaign, click Edit next to Bid Strategy, and check the box for Enhanced CPC. Should you use manual bidding or automatic bidding in Google AdWords. Well there eight different ways you can bid in AdWords keep watching and I'll show you how hello I'm Uzair and thanks for joining in. This is a very commonly asked question with regards to bidding whether I should bid manually or shall I set it to automatic and let Google decide what to bid it's entirely up to you my personal opinion and my preference is that I always bid in manually because I have total control of how much to bid and where to bid. Another important factor is your strategy, what are you trying to achieve with AdWords. Are your goals for conversions or getting the highest ranked ad in Adwords. Let me show you the 8 different ways you can bid in Adwords so let's move over to the AdWords interface, now this is the new interface which is being rolled out as we speak and by early 2018 everybody's account will look like this. So all you need to do is go to Settings then you go to bidding ok and then under this drop-down you will see the 8 different ways you can bid. Now manual CPC is right at the bottom where you set your own maximum cost per clicks for your ads and Google will not change it so whether you are bidding a bit less or bidding quite aggressively or a bit more, Google will bid whatever you set. Let's take a quick look as to all these other seven options as to how you can bid for your keywords, so target CPA is the target cost per acquisition so it sets bids to get the most conversions possible while reaching your average cost per acquisition goal. Now when we talk about conversions it may not be a lead or a sale it could be any conversion which you are running in your campaigns, it could be a sign up to your email list or somebody downloads a PDF or subscribes to your newsletter, whatever your conversions are that target CPA can be set up so if you are bidding for an acquisition cost of £10 or dollars per conversion, then you can set it in there and then Google will work out how best to keep that target CPA within your budget. Target ROAS return on a spend is, sets bid to help you get the most congruent value while maintaining your target return on ad spend and that is what we call the ROAS. If you want to get more clicks to your landing page then you need to well, you can potentially use this bidding after a type which is to maximize the clicks and Google will set bids to help you get the most clicks within your budget. Maximise Conversions As it states is to help you get the most conversions within your budget. Target Search Page Location Sets bids to help you get your ads to the top of the page or on the first page results. Target Outranking Share This set bids to help you outrank another domains ad. Now some customers come to me and say well I want to be always on number one position, that may not be the best strategy always because you may find that when the ad is ranked between two and three we are getting the most conversion so you need to look at. Enhanced CPC Google will increase your bidding by up to 30% to get that click for the conversion so then it's going to adjust your manual bids up or down to help you increase conversions. Let’s get started! 00:19 Website call conversions allow you to track the number of phone calls you receive from customers who found your business through AdWords, clicked through to your website, and then placed a call as a result. 00:30 With website call conversions, you can actually track the number of these calls that are a direct result of a click on your ad. This is particularly valuable since many customers won’t place a call until after they’ve read more about a business on the website. 00:45 So how does this work? You’ll add a small snippet of code on your website that dynamically inserts a Google forwarding number where your current phone number is displayed in text on your website. The call will be routed to your business as usual, and AdWords will attribute that call as a conversion in your account so you can more accurately track your return on investment and optimize your account based on valuable call data. 1:08 To get started, click the Tools tab from the top navigation bar, and select Conversions from the drop-down menu. Click the red + Conversion button and select the "Phone calls" option on the next screen. Select “Calls to a Google forwarding number on your website” from the options listed. 1:30 Here you’ll enter the name of the phone call conversion you'd like to track. This will help you recognize this action later when it shows up in conversion reports. An example might be "Flower phone orders" or "Booking calls." 1:46 Next click “Value” so you can enter a value for each call, or select "Don't assign a value" if you'd prefer not to assign a value to each call you receive from the website. Then click done. 1:58 Next click Call Length so you can enter the minimum length, in seconds, that a phone call needs to last to be counted as a conversion. For example, if you set the call length to 60 seconds, then a 30 second call would not be counted as a conversion, so really think about the call length that a valuable call would have at the very minimum. Click done once you’ve entered that value. 2:19 Next, click Count and select whether to count all or unique conversions. "All" is best for sales; "unique" is best for leads. 2:32 Next on the list, select a conversion window. This is how long after an ad click or ad impression you want to track conversions for this conversion action. The window can be as short as one week or as long as 60 days. For example, if a user clicked on an ad today, how long after today’s click would you still want to attribute their call as a conversion from AdWords? Once you’ve done that, click Done. 3:00 Lastly, select the category that best applies to your conversion. 3:04 Click into the Optimization section next, so you can add data from this conversion action to your "Conv. (opt.)" columns in your AdWords account. It allows you to optimize bids for this conversion action when using automated bid strategies such as Target return on ad spend, Enhanced cost-per-click, or Conversion Optimizer. 3:31 On the next page, you’ll find the snippet of code you’ll need to add to your website. Underneath the code, you can actually email it directly to your web developer, or yourself if you are going to add it to the website. And that’s it! Easy, right? 3:46 Once you click Done on the bottom of the page, you may be prompted with a pop up window that reads “To enable this conversion action, you need to configure your call extensions.” 3:56 If so, click the blue “Go to Call Extensions button” and create a call extension with a Google Forwarding number. First, click Tools in the top navigation bar of your account and select “Conversions.” Adjust the date range to your needs and you’ll see key metrics in the table. You could say that the item is $15 off, or you could say that you save 50%. It has been shown that using the percentage discount in this case converts at a much higher rate. Why? Because even though it is mathematically the same discount, 50 is a bigger number than 15, so it makes the customer feel like they are saving more money. Sales Psychology Hack #2: Add a Reason for the Discount Customers are more likely to buy an item if they see a reason that it is discounted. The reason for this is because it increases the sense of urgency for the customer. For example, if an item is on sale at 50% off as a special easter sale, then the customer has another added element of scarcity: they know that when Easter ends, that the sale will disappear - and so it reinforces that they need to act now and not miss out. Sales Psychology Hack #3: Highlight Benefits, NOT Product Features When writing ad copy and your product descriptions, discuss how this product will benefit the customer’s life instead of talking about the features of a product. Benefits show the customer how the mug will directly improve their life. If you simply list features, then the customer has to take the time to see how these features will impact them. Do the work for them. Sales Psychology Hack #4: Use Jargon & Slang One of the challenges with dropshipping with Facebook ads is building trust between the potential buyer and you. And one way that you can do that is by including niche-specific jargon and slang in your product ad and descriptions. It shows that you are knowledgeable in the niche, and it builds a connection between you and your potential customers. Sales Psychology Hack #5: Paint Pictures & Overcome Obstacles with Photos Photos/pictures can do more than just show off the product. You can also use them to help the customer imagine themselves using the product - and use them to overcome objections they may have about the product (e.g. have a picture that shows the measurements of the product on it) Sales Psychology Hack #6: Use HD Photos that Customers Can Zoom In On Amazon.com have shown that if customers can zoom in on pictures, it noticeably impacts conversions. Customers like to see finer details of items that they buy, and it also makes your store look more professional - building trust between you and them. Sales Psychology Hack #7: Use Short Product Descriptions Usually, short product descriptions work best over long product descriptions when you are running paid traffic to the pages. Long page copy can be distracting for a customer that is in the mood to impulse purchase. This is why we recommend choosing either paid traffic or free SEO traffic to focus on: SEO traffic requires long product descriptions, which conflicts with this. Sales Psychology Hack #8: Use Trust Words & Emblems Another way that you can build trust with potential customers is by including words and emblems on your store from brands/things that people already trust. E.g. you can include credit card company emblems on your site (as you accept them as a form of payment). You can include USPS as ePacket items are delivered via USPS. You can post SSL certificate images (if your site has one installed). And you can highlight certification certificates if the product you’re selling has been approved by one, like the FDA. Sales Psychology Hack #9: Use Emotive Words If your product ad and description, use words that will evoke feelings in a customer. One good feeling to evoke is the feeling of getting a great deal (words that can do this include limited, hurry, slashed, massive and bonus). Another good emotion is curiosity (words that can do this include special, surprise, odd, bizarre and trick). And the final emotion to focus on, is the feeling of looking good (words that do this include gorgeous, stunning and elegant). Sales Psychology Hack #10: FREE is the Most Powerful Word Of All The tried and true technique of selling items for free + just pay shipping still works great. The word “free” is extremely powerful. This technique has been used for years. It’s not always suitable for your promos, but if you get a chance to try it, do it and see your conversions increase.
