Should you use manual bidding or automatic bidding in Google AdWords. Well there eight different ways you can bid in AdWords keep watching and I'll show you how hello I'm Uzair and thanks for joining in. This is a very commonly asked question with regards to bidding whether I should bid manually or shall I set it to automatic and let Google decide what to bid it's entirely up to you my personal opinion and my preference is that I always bid in manually because I have total control of how much to bid and where to bid. Another important factor is your strategy, what are you trying to achieve with AdWords. Are your goals for conversions or getting the highest ranked ad in Adwords. Let me show you the 8 different ways you can bid in Adwords so let's move over to the AdWords interface, now this is the new interface which is being rolled out as we speak and by early 2018 everybody's account will look like this. So all you need to do is go to Settings then you go to bidding ok and then under this drop-down you will see the 8 different ways you can bid. Now manual CPC is right at the bottom where you set your own maximum cost per clicks for your ads and Google will not change it so whether you are bidding a bit less or bidding quite aggressively or a bit more, Google will bid whatever you set. Let's take a quick look as to all these other seven options as to how you can bid for your keywords, so target CPA is the target cost per acquisition so it sets bids to get the most conversions possible while reaching your average cost per acquisition goal. Now when we talk about conversions it may not be a lead or a sale it could be any conversion which you are running in your campaigns, it could be a sign up to your email list or somebody downloads a PDF or subscribes to your newsletter, whatever your conversions are that target CPA can be set up so if you are bidding for an acquisition cost of £10 or dollars per conversion, then you can set it in there and then Google will work out how best to keep that target CPA within your budget. Target ROAS return on a spend is, sets bid to help you get the most congruent value while maintaining your target return on ad spend and that is what we call the ROAS. If you want to get more clicks to your landing page then you need to well, you can potentially use this bidding after a type which is to maximize the clicks and Google will set bids to help you get the most clicks within your budget. Maximise Conversions As it states is to help you get the most conversions within your budget. Target Search Page Location Sets bids to help you get your ads to the top of the page or on the first page results. Target Outranking Share This set bids to help you outrank another domains ad. Now some customers come to me and say well I want to be always on number one position, that may not be the best strategy always because you may find that when the ad is ranked between two and three we are getting the most conversion so you need to look at. Enhanced CPC Google will increase your bidding by up to 30% to get that click for the conversion so then it's going to adjust your manual bids up or down to help you increase conversions. Would you like to pay the lowest cost per click for your Google AdWords ads and get the highest ad position. Keep watching and I'll show you how. Hello I'm Uzair. And in this short video, I'm going to show, you how you can increase your quality school pay less for your cost per click and increase your ad rank all at the same time. Now most people or most advertisers think that bidding more aggressively or throwing more money at Google will get them ranked higher in the ads. But that is not the case. Well, Google will gladly take your money but you will not get the highest rank position. And even if you do get the highest ad rank, you'll be paying so much that your budget is going to get depleted very very quickly everyday and your competitors' ads will show longer than yours because your budget will keep on running out. So what's the formula of running your ads all day long, not depleting your budget, paying less for your cost per click. And getting ranked higher in the ad bidding option. So first you need to understand. Quality Score of your keywords. Most people don't know what Quality Score is and don't pay too much attention to it. Well it is one of the most important factors in Google AdWords and you've got to pay very very close attention to the Quality score so that you can get the maximum benefits out from out of Google and from AdWords. First I'm going to show you where you can find your Quality Score of your keywords in your Google AdWords dashboard. So here I am in my dashboard and you can see the column for Quality Score is over here. But if you can't see this column in your dashboard then what you need to do is to go to the modify columns. And then Attributes and you will see that yours is not checked. And so you need to check it. And you can then say it as a custom column set and I usually save my columns so that I don't have to keep on going in here and checking all the columns which I need for my AdWords account. I'm going to cancel that. Let's go back to our presentation. OK. We're back in here. So let me explain a little bit more about the Quality Score. Each keyword has got a Quality Score between 1 and 10 - 1 being the worst and 10 being the best, you want to be as high as possible. But it doesn't happen straight away. It gradually improves and quality score is mainly dependent on three things, the relevancy of your keywords, the ads and also the landing page experience. So between these three factors Google then calculates the quality score of that keywords. If you are let's say advertising for green apples you need to make sure that your ad has got green apples on it and runs them to clicks on your ad and goes to your landing page. You are selling green apples and not red apples. And that's what Google wants to be certain about is that the keyword, ad and the landing page are all relevant to each other. So Google gives a benchmark of quality score of 5. So you want to be starting at least at five and anything lower than that you need to pay a little bit more attention as to how the ad has been written and whether that the quality keyword is relevant to the landing page or not. So anything lower than that you need to start working on it. But, here's the big problem, if your Quality Score is down below over here between 1 and 4 then you are going to pay a lot more than you should be and if you are up there...

The way Google AdWords works is every time someone clicks on your ads; you pay money. So if you want to improve your quality score, you have to do a few simple things. Number one, target very specific keywords. Don't do broad match. If you go after particular keywords by doing the exact match, what'll happen is your ads will only show up for that particular keyword or phrase. When you go too broad, you're going to end up paying more per click because Google's going to be showing your ads to a lot of people who aren't clicking. The next tactic that you need to be following is negative keywords. For example, let's say you're selling computers. When someone types in Apple because you're also a reseller of Apple computers, you may want to add the negative keyword of food. Because if you show up for ads related to Apple and someone's looking for the food, you're going to be wasting money per click, your quality score is going to go down, and your ad costs are going to go through the roof. So make sure you add in negative keywords. Third, group your ppc keywords. What I mean by grouping is a lot of your keywords are similar to each other. Put those in one group. So the higher your click-through rate, the cheaper your ads will be. And the higher your click-through rate, the better your quality score is going to be. The fourth tip I have for you continues to optimize your ad text. If your ad texts get more click-through than the competitors, your cost per click is going to go down, and your quality score is going to go up. By testing, you're going to be able to figure out what works and what doesn't work. If you're unsure of this, look at your competitors. Type in a keyword. You can see the ad texts that other people are using at the top. Usually, the people at the top have appealing ad text and which is getting a ton of clicks. If you can't find a ton of examples when you're searching a keyword, go to SEMrush, put in a keyword, and it'll show you the history of all the people who have been bidding on that keyword and what their ad copy was. Last but not least, optimize your landing page. If your landing page is fantastic when people go click through on your ad, go to your landing page, and buy, your quality score is going to go up. If your landing page sucks and people keep bouncing back off, well, Google's going to ding your quality score. The way you can landing page is, A, put your keywords on that landing page. So if someone Googles the keyword marketing and your landing page also shows marketing, you're much more likely to keep the visitor on there and convert. B, continually run tests using Crazy Egg. Using Crazy Egg, you can see where people are getting stuck on your landing page, what they like, how far down they're scrolling, and what you can improve on that page to create a better user experience. That's it. Follow all those techniques and tactics, and you're going to be able to improve your Google AdWords quality score and your inbound marketing efforts.

So if you want to improve your CTR you need to: 1. Use SEMrush - put in keywords and competitors in SEMrush. This will show you the ad text your competitors are using. If your competitors are constantly using a specific ad text, it usually means it converts well for them. 2. Create better copy than your competitors - look at what they use and try to come up with better variations. 3. Use keywords within your copy - if you include the keyword people are searching for in your ad copy you are more likely to get clicks. The copy needs to sound good, just adding a keyword isn't enough. 4. Start day parting - if you are in the B2B space people are more likely to become customers during normal business hours. So only show your ads when your ideal customers are online. For the B2C space, you can consider running your ads during all hours of the day. 5. Geo target - if you are only doing business in a certain region, then show ads only within those regions. This will help increase your overall CTR, which will reduce your ad costs.

If you have a hundred keywords in one ad group, what's going to happen? Your ad text isn't going to be related to all of those keywords. But on the flip side, if you only have a handful or one keyword related to one ad copy, what's going to happen? That ad copy is going to be so relevant to that keyword, that you're quality score's gonna skyrocket, people are going to click on it, you're going to save money, and you're going to convert better. So instead of writing the same ad text for hundreds and hundreds of keywords, write the same ad text for one keyword, or a handful of keywords max. But, ideally, just one keyword. That way, it's specific each and every single time to the keyword you want to bid on. The second thing I want to teach you about is a landing page optimization. Why does AdWords ROI have to be related to your ads purely? That's a bunch of BS. That's what everyone thinks, oh we have to fine-tune our ads and keep tweaking and adjusting our bids. And, yes, I'm not saying you don't have to do that. But, you're going to cap out on optimizing your ads. Eventually, the real ROI is going to be your landing page, your product that you're selling, the offering that you're going to make. Also, optimize that landing page. And the way you do that is you install Crazy Egg. With Crazy Egg, it'll show you how far people scroll down, where they click, they provide you with reports like heat maps. You've heard me talk about Crazy Egg tons and tons of times. Of course, I wouldn't be talking about it if it didn't benefit you. Plus, I also own the company, so that's a plus for me as well. But check it out, it's useful. Once you have all of that running, you'll get reports on where people are clicking and engaging with your landing page. Then you'll want to run A/B test with Craz Egg and you can do that through the WYSIWYG Editor. Make some tweaks, some changes, and then boom, start running some tests, and you can optimize your conversions. Because you know what, if you keep paying a dollar per click from AdWords, and in general, you're only getting one lead or one sale out of a hundred clicks, you're paying $100 per conversion. But if you can optimize your conversion on your landing page by four times using Crazy Egg, or any other A/B testing tool out there, right, you don't have to use Crazy Egg. Now you're paying $25 per conversion. You see how that's a drastic difference for inbound marketing? And that happens a lot. Countless times. I see it day in and day out. A lot of people just focus on their ad campaigns, and they forget about their landing pages. To do well, you have to do both.

In this video, I tell you how to actually apply the changes to our account based on the data we looked at in the previous video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jK4wL2tWHN0&list=PLS46f4aLJ2hNH0RJi21DWAXeCdCT1Lhy6&index=8&t=25s). There is a lot of information we need to filter and maximize our profitable areas, and remove or change our least profitable ones. In this video, we look at device, demographics, location, and ad schedule changes that we can make upon finding out that a certain area works better for us than another! - Changing device settings: to change these, you will have to go into your campaigns list, and then click on settings. From here, you should click on the 'devices' tab, and this is where we can change our settings for devices. Suppose from our previous video, we have determined that you are getting 100 clicks to your desktop view website, and 10 conversions. Let's suppose you are also getting 200 clicks to your mobile view website, and getting 0 conversions. Should you keep on spending money on mobile clicks? I would argue no. You may want to remove the mobile device entirely from being seen by your customers (you cannot 'remove' a device, so we will need to work around that by adjusting our bids). But I would also advise against that as you would be losing a lot of valuable traffic. What I would suggest is for us to actually decrease the bid of our mobile device to -100% until we fix whatever it is seems to not be working properly for us on our page. So in order to change the settings here, we need to adjust the bids. Decrease the bid to lessen the chance your ad will be seen, and increase the bid to increase the chance it will be seen. You will be paying more for bids you increase however, so keep that in mind when you increase bids for a specific device! - Changing demographics: to change these settings, we would have to go into the 'audience' tab, and add 'ad retargeting' to a specific ad group. You can change the age and gender by checking whatever group you want to see your ad, and unchecking whatever group you don't want to see it. After you do that, you should be able to see the new list on the same page below the settings. Don't be intimidated if it shows way more results than you would expect. Focus only on the ad group that actually had the changes applied to it and you should see your new list there! - Changing location settings: to change these settings, you would follow the same steps as for device settings, but click on the 'location' tab instead. From here on, you can also either adjust the bids (up to 90%), or completely remove or add a certain geographic area. - Changing ad scheduling: to change these settings, you would follow the same steps as for device settings, but click on the 'ad schedule' tab instead. From here on, you should be able to also either adjust the bids (up to 90%), or add/remove certain times. If you found that your ads run the best on Mondays from 8-10 am and then from 12-2 pm, you can set those times by clicking on '+add'. That's it!
