Tour of the workshop where Dala horses are produced - Nusnäs, Sweden

01:34
This is a video of my trip to Lapland (Norway, Sweden and Finland) I did in August 2011. Take a tour of the workshop where Dala horses are produced. The idea of making them dates back to 1928 when two brothers, Nils and Jannes Olsson, began to carve and sell them to help their parents make ends meet. For some reason, the colourful figures became famous and even symbolic of the Swedish countryside. Each Swedish household must have at least a pair of them. The souvenir shop there sells also other wooden animals but none is as popular as the horses.

Beautiful Transylvania, Romania

23:53
I went to Romania in April 2013. I visited Cluj-Napoca, Sighișoara, Salina Turda and Biertan (Transylvania). Romania is a beautiful country with good food and great people. I hope you'll like the video and you'll plan a tip there!

05:58
This is a video of my trip to Åland Islands I did in August 2011. The Åland Islands is an autonomous, demilitarised, monolingually Swedish-speaking region of Finland that consists of an archipelago lying at the entrance to the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea. Collectively, the islands in the archipelago form the smallest region of Finland, constituting 0.49% of its land area and 0.50% of its population. Åland's autonomous status means that those provincial powers normally exercised by representatives of the central Finnish government are largely exercised by its own government.

Most of Tromsø, including the city centre, is located on the small island of Tromsøya in the county of Troms, 350km north of the Arctic Circle. The city is warmer than most other places located on the same latitude, due to the warming effect of the Gulf Stream. The city centre of Tromsø contains the highest number of old houses in Northern Norway, the oldest house dating from 1789. The Arctic Cathedral, a modern church from 1965, is probably the most famous landmark in Tromsø. The city is a cultural centre for its region, several festivals taking place in the summer. Some of Norway's best-known musicians, Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge of the electronica duo Röyksopp, both grew up and started their careers in Tromsø.

Mývatn and Krafla, Iceland

05:11
This is a video of my trip to Iceland I did in August 2008. Mývatn is a shallow eutrophic lake situated in an area of active volcanism in the north of Iceland, not far from Krafla volcano. The lake and its surrounding wetlands have an exceptionally rich fauna of waterbirds, especially ducks. The name Mývatn is sometimes used not only for the lake but the whole surrounding inhabited area. The River Laxá, Lake Mývatn and the surrounding wetlands are protected as a nature reserve (The Mývatn-Laxá Nature Conservation Area). Krafla is a caldera of about 10 km in diameter with a 90 km long fissure zone, in the north of Iceland in the Mývatn region. Its highest peak reaches up to 818 m and it is 2 km in depth. There have been 29 reported eruptions in recorded history.
